w8 one second. dell home pcs suck, BUT the xps are pretty decent. U would save money by building the pc at home, but u wudnt go wrong in buying an xps cos they aite.
not really... -the standard ram for the xps 600 is 4 dimms, and 4 sticks of corsair xms 2 ddr2 pc5400 costs a bit more than 500 CANADIAN. -3.2 dual core sucks compared to amd 64x2 4800+ -go download symatec anti-virus corporate edition, it give a lifetime subscription to live update (wait you guys are anti-warez so disregard this) -you get 1 year warrenty with all the parts you buy -google is your best support -if you don't act stupid, you don't need the system restore plan
also, Dell overprices. He could build anything with a 7800GT for about 800 including OS and 1100 if you get an athlon x2, which beat the PDs hard.
Yes you do.. he is from ONI. His name used to be Guns. Or I think Gunstar. He's umm...yea...you met him at least once in yer life. and thanks for the opinions guys.
how do you think they can afford technical support? THey rip you of royally and then plan on you buying from them again inn a few years, they are forcing your perfectly good computer into obselecence uneededly because they skim on quality parts.
Yea the dell xps is worth it, I have one and it works really well. And btw, wtf? Dell does not suck. It's one of the most known and is overall rated pretty good in most of the well known magazines and sites. The people that say dell suck usually never even used one and just follow another d*cks opinion. I still have my old dell computer and it still runs well even though I had it for more then 6 yrs.
speaking of intel.. have you seen teh intel mobile M processor being used on a desktop and OC to around 2.5ghz? holy ---- that thing is fast. http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/05/25/dothan_over_netburst/
the pentium Ms are good their core architecture is very similar to that of the PIIIs and Athlons. I never said that those were bad, but the prescottt core P4s are abominations. Also, a 2.5GHZ Athlon 64 out performs the PM in most cases.
Well we are talking about computer that are useful for like gaming and stuff.. Dells suck either way but they are the best for like, family computer..err computer just for Instant messenging, internet, email, etc..
Actually, i own 2 dells and still say they suck. The first is broken (right as the warrenty ran out), and the second one was broken right out of the box and needed to be repaired. The second dell also had to be fixed again a few months ago becuase the power supply stopped working (a psu should last longer than that one did I say). I knew it was the power supply, but I ended up talking with some arab guy for about an hour for him to get to that. Not to mention I've barely been able to figure out what they've said the last few times I've called their "tech support". Your computer is an older dell, which wernt as bad, which would explain why yours works better. Dell may have started out good, but they went downhill. I also tryed to use their website to update my drivers yesterday as well. I found the driver for my card, nice and easy. No problem, right? Oh wait, the driver was 2 years old. Scratch that. (The driver on nvidia's site was 2 weeks old.) And that ladies and gentlemen, is why dell, in fact, really does suck.
I bought a very nice laptop from Dell, 2.0 GHz Pentium M ... 1 GB DDR2 533 MHz, 80 GB Hard Drive. The things stopped working after a week . To get a replacement ... I had to spend 5 :censored: HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH THEM OVER 2 DAYS!!! They still haven't sent me the box to send it back in. I heard that XPS comps are very nice ... but build your own ... then u know what the parts are exactly in them. Because the graphics cards are made "specially" for Dell ... so they aren't as good as if you bought a brand name one off of Newegg. Plus ... you get a lot more bang for your buck when building your own.
I have an old and the new xps. The new xps 600 that I have is perfect for gaming, I usually defrag, scan viruses, scan for spyware, and download while playing battlefield 2 and it doesn't slow down at all. I never experienced a breakdown for the dell computers, so it's all good for me. I don't know why the other people that have dell computers experience breakdowns. I guess I'm the lucky one.
I wouldn't do Dell... You can probably get a good computer from ABSPC as well. But I would not do Dell at all. And Just the GFX card doesn't mean everything. You should look at overall specs
most people who say dells suck, never actually owned a dell. so stop spreading the news. I have an old Dimension, 700mhz, and i put 2000 on it, it sucked, but I put linux on it and it's the fastest thing... Emachine's Etower editions were way worse than any Dell. Compaq was even worse than that. Be sure to check the facts before you say it sucks.... Though I do agree that any custom built is always a better choice, no matter what manufacturer you buy from.
