i still play nintendo but if they don't appeal a little more to older gamers they will eventually lose the market ps3 is commin out soon then the revolution will be left behind unless it turns out to be a good system in other words our prayers on nintendo

the idea behind the revolution isn't that it will be some uber powerful system, the real idea behind it is that it is actually something new. Nintendo is fighting the trend of every few years the same damn console comes out with better graphics they are actually innovating. I own an xbox, PS2, GC and xbox 360 so im not being biased about this. Im actually glad a company is out there that is trying to invent new things instead of copy the competition. I mean seriously if not for nintendo we wouldnt even have vibrating controllers. There are some sweet games for xbox and ps2 but the thing is sony and ms put out their consoles and let developers have at it and step back, because thier companies are into so much other crap. Nintendo is more hands on they are involved with almost every title that comes out for their consoles. Sure they could probably sell more if they had more adult oriented games but that would be like biting the hand that feeds them, I think most parents are glad there is a console they can feel safe letting thier kids have.

I understand where you are coming from, but mario and zelda are not child games. Cel shading doesn't mean childish.

    Lets start from the top.
@ anyone and everyone: Don't count Nintendo out in any way. They are making profit from sale one on pretty much every system they've launched. The only possible exception I can think of is Virtual Boy. I remember not too long ago the FIRST TIME Microsoft's game department made a small profit for a quarter, I believe just after Halo 2 was launched. But then, they have the money to spend.

@ up2ditime: Let's start by saying that the GCN was a more powerful system than the PS2. Don't believe me? Look at RE4, the GCN version has slightly better graphics. Capcom did a wonderful job porting it to the PS2, so the difference wasn't that much. Then look at RE4 compared to just about any other PS2 game. You'll have one or two that can match it, none that beat it. GCN also has games like Metroid Prime, which came out in '02, that are still breathtaking. XBox is the most powerful system, but GCN has been able to match the graphics with what they do with the numbers they have.

There is NO WAY more raw processing power=better games. My favorite game currently is Golden Sun, on the GBA. Yes, my little GBA has a better game than Halo, then KOTOR, then Final Fantasy, or any other game on a home console (for me at least).

Nintendo not advancing? How? 360 and PS3 will be more like 180 and 2.5. Like taking a PC, throwing in a better graphics card, upgraded RAM, and some other small improvements, and calling it a brand new computer.

Revo's coming out about the same time as PS3. They've learned from their mistakes. Or so they've said.

@ Quickblu: Under 14? They target everyone, it's the general opinion of the casual gamer that their games are for kids. Remember, there is no "K" rating for kids.

@ PsychoSpike: Nintendo cornering themselves now? I'd say they did that with the N64, going with a cartridge media and losing Square. But that's more of an opinion.

@ mrfurious: Or the conventional controller (instead of a joystick), or the analog stick, or the wireless controller, not to mention completely saving the industry in the 80's.

And that's where I end. I am by no means a fanboy, just an educated fan.

they should have made the N64 CD based. Also, they never released the 64DD which would have made gaming significantly better on the N64. That is why they failed. THen they got picky with who they let make games for them.

...i realy <3 nintendo because they try diffrent things.
ps2(3) and xbox(360) are in war with eachother with: who will have the best graphics, best games etc.

but Nintendo doesn't look at them (ps and xbox)
Nintendo is following their own path, trying to invent new things to make gaming a pleasure.
For example: Look at the amazing Revolution controler! o_O i can't wait to try it out! ^^

i have been a long-time nintendo fan... but 6 months after the release of gamecube... (ntm making Super Mario Sunshine) has brought Nintendo to shame. Yes, Nintendo is trying to be revolutionary (pssh, thats what Sega was doing also n00bs... went too far) and they shall have the ultimate loss. If Revolution doesnt bring in the games that the people demand (not just resident evil, which is going over to 360 and PS3 anyway now), then I believe their fate is the same as Segas in a similar way.

    1) If I'm not mistaking, sony was alreaddy making consoles back when nintendo had their SNES. Gamecube came out around the same time as the Xbox, sony and microsoft did not kill the gamecube.

    2) I am going to buy a revolution, for potential indeed. Hower to my deepest regret, I got tired of the eyetoy after a few days, I got tired of the DS after a few days, and since the revolution is based on the same type of interactivity, I will aslo get tired of that after a few days, unless they actually continue to bring out good games instead of a bunch of minigames like wario ware etc, what they did with the DS.
