what has happened?? Nintendo had a major control of the gameing industry. Then came sony and microsoft and killed the gamecube what has happened and instead of nintendo pressing thier next gen console they plan to make a system that is jus above the gamecube the aren't putting much planning into raw processing power thats why the xbox and ps2 had more better games cuz it gaves the games developers more to function with. The gamecube has a few exceptional titles but any regular gamer would go for ps2 or xbox they have more power . nintendo is only surviving on parents who buy the gamecube for their smaller children. The handheld market was also dominated by nintendo then the psp came out nintendo was shaken but is still standing in the handheld industry cuz much thought was put into the touch screen. But i would still go for the psp why? RAW Processing power = better titles. Nintendo has to keep advancing insted of letting the competition beat them up . I was a nintendo fan now i don't even think of buying the so called revolution or any other nintendo product. I am now a die hard xbox and computer gamming fan and psp . I jus have to say its too late nintendo R.I.P My look on the ds and psp Nintendo's focus is on good, innovative games, rather then just beautiful ones. The PSP isn't strictly better then the DS and nor are the PS3 or 360 strictly better then the Revolution. The DS may not have the graphics capabilities of the PSP, but the PSP doesn't have a touchscreen or mic. The PS3 and 360 may be able to produce beautiful polygons, but the Revolution has a (cough) revolutionary new control system, that, in my opinion, has fantastic potential. Frankly, I think Nintendo's strategy has more potential and longevity.
They still are a major part of the industry, you are just too blind to see it. Coming out on top in profits doesn't in any way make you the best. Silly.
I wouldn't really consider it as a failure, just that nintendo loves to try out new things, therefore affecting its sales.
nintendo is still good, remember who there games target - under 14 year olds sony and xbox just focus on power and gfx, nintendo will always have a place in my heart
I think Nintendo is doing great, if anything they decided to take the path less traveld and while yes I think Nintendo should have introduced online play much earlier I still think they have been successful in what they do. Sony nor Microsoft have as many amazing and well known characters in their library and in all honesty I'm excited to get my hands on the Revo controller. Viva la duck hunt
well, systems like the gamecube are still fun for parties, and im not talklin mario party, when my bros friend came over (there both 15-16) and we rented mario party 5, it was terrible. we only played a few unlocked minigames. it was sort if dumb how there not unlocked form the start. eventually, we went out and rented mario baseball. that was more fun.
Nintendo's are good ^_^ My gamecube never broke it was a tough machine ^_^ The only reason i don't like Nintendo is they make to many child releated games, like mario, zelda, and i don't like those types of games.
i agree with you there, but what about RE4? i just htought of it. i have it for ps2 and it is hella scary
Nintendo has always tried to do something that noone else would. Like back when the SNES came out, that system's controllers were the first to have shoulder buttons, and now you basically can't have a good controller without shoulder buttons. Also, the N64 basically made console gaming what it is today with the control stick that was on the controller. Another thing that I think that really sets Nintendo above the rest is the quantity of quality games. Lots of people laugh and point at Nintendo because the games look like they were made for kids, but a ton of them are enjoyable by many different age ranges. Smash Brothers, for instance, was one of the best, if not THE best, game to come out of that generation of consoles. I still play it with my brothers whenever they're over at my place for an extended period of time (Pikachu rules, Kirby blows! Bwahah). And as mentioned above, if you go and ask you grand mother or grand father "what's the name of a video game character that you know of?" I will put money on the fact that their answer will be "Mario". Nintendo doesn't go for market penetration like MS and Sony do, because that isn't where the big bucks and huge profit margins are at. Nintendo goes for populace penetration. They try to get as many people as possible to play their games, not just the hard core people. And before anyone says I'm some kinda fanboy, they'd be right: I love my video games, but not really any particular system. If there's a good game that I want to play on a system, you can bet I'll buy it. I've had every Nintendo console since the NES, a Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sony Playstation, PS2, Xbox, and am waiting on my Xbox 360 bundle to ship so I can play PGR3. Basically, to be a success in the gaming industry, you MUST have good games. If you don't, better hope you get at least one and have a few billion dollars to throw at the system to make people buy it.
i'm 25. there's a lot of first generation gamers out there that grew up with sega and nintendo fighting it out. a lot of those people have aged into maturity now, and switched to PS, PS2 and Xbox, due to the overall quality/maturity of the games provided. actually i am one of those people, i was a nintendo fan once myself. i hope nintendo can keep it's head above water, but let's be real here. what's the lineup? Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft. Nintendo is the only one that is active in gaming alone, and imo that will be their downfall.. don't forget what happened to sega.. now producing games only. Nintendo will have to come up with a few new innovative idea's to win the adult gaming community over, otherwise i suspect they'll be cornered soon enough.. but that won't be easy. hey, i could be wrong though, but it has always seemed to me that the target audiences of nintendo is younger than sony's or Microsoft's. greetz
