Well first of all, they are kinda loud so I may get some new ones.. D I'm using the ones that came default with the Xion II case Model 103 Ok, so what should a good fan speed and temperature be for my system Current specs (this is while only being on firefox. Thats all.) CPU temp: 105`F / 40`C System temp: 84'F / 29`C CPU fan: 865 (fluxtuates from 800-900 after a while of running) Power fan: 6000 (which I think is perfect)(hoes between 5700-6000 usually) System Specs are: AMD Athlon 3800+ X2 Asus A8N-E 2x512 mb RAM Also if I go into my bios and change my memory from 333mhz to 400mhz will that be safe? will it really help?
for the memory, what mhz is your physical ram at? if it is 400mhz, then switch it to 400mhz in bios... I'll let DeFuZioN tell ya about the fans, he's pretty helpful in that area..
ok..thanks physical ram...as in the RAM I bought..thats by default I beleive DDR 400 or (PC 3200)... if thats not what you meant let me know..
Ok well I shall return later.. Im off to fix my bios then play some F.E.A.R. btw, any certain thing I should set my hyperthreading to? its at auto right now. and I am thinking of using the OC'r on the system to 10% to start off..but that'll be for later..
is your cpu temp 40 C on idle or load? if its on load its a pretty good temp, but if its 40 on idle, you have a problem.......
Like I said, thats the temp while using it, only running the temp program and firefox.. also, i took down these temps: CPU temp: 115 F MB temp: 85 F CPU fan speed: 1500-ish That is after playing the fear demo. Which I could play on maximum settings but there was some framerate lag..(played it at full settings for about 10 minutes..and it was 1024x768 res) So the cpu fan I guess is fine since it kicks in when it really needs it..and the temps I think are decent for running a game in the process... by now its starting to cool down..at least the cpu went down 10 degrees in bout 3-4 minutes..
If you're worried about cooling, just get a couple extra fans. You can get a good 120mm fan for $5-$7
your call on upping the ram, you might ry for tighter timings at lower clocks which always helps, though higher clocks always good. on non-netburst chips though, memory bandwidth isn't all to vital, especially if you are running dual channel. if you are running dual channel, it might even be bertter to go for the tighter timings as opposed to the higher clock(then again this is for single core performance, doubling the cores may require a bit more bandwidth for optimal performance) in the end though, the call is yours.
Hmm..well my nvidia program said to make it go up to 400mhz so i considered it. And I may consider some more fans..or better fans..quieter ones also.
go with what Ntune says then... fans won't help a ton cosidering you're nto running overly hot, maybe a better CPU fan would but don't expect a huge drop in anything. AGain though, you aren't running too hot.
yea I dont think I am either.. Whats around too hot? I was reading on another forum someone was running at 185 F they said..idk if I should believe that or not but its crazy ..
i agree with the other guys Tighten the Timeing leave the Mhz b/c changine timeings can't ruin the ram changeing the mhz it can my 4000+ system Runs like 29c Idle and 37c under long time load like benching and i only have 3 120's 80 Hs fan FREE SOLUTIONS TO HEATING Is it in a desk Is is it in something with things around it is it Under a desk is it next to a heater are the fansl Bloweing on a wall if any of them MOVE IT and u will get better cooling OR be like my b/f and DUCK tape a HUGE box House fan to the side of the case and say NOW it gets air ( not the best solution )
