Hey i am keep getting this error on media player everytime i try to play a song, it tells me something about the sound card but i know i have one installed on the computer...

    this is the error:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

Can anyone help me out or knows what to do?

have u tried reinstalling the card

have u installed any usb devices which have sound either going into or outfrom it ie. a usb phone or Webcam as i found that the sound settings changed to that device and became default whether or not he item is plugged in to do this:

    @ go to Control Panel
    @ Look for sound devices
@ make sure the drop down box is your Sound card not the device

Have you got a onboard sound card cause if u have it could be conflicting with the expansion card if you have both active, check in you mobo book or in your bios

    hm...

Try going into control panel > Sound & Audio devices > Audio Tab and make sure your Device is stated there

    OR

Go into System in Control Panel > Hardware tab > Device manager > Near bottom says ' Sound,Vid & game controllers ' > Expand that

If you have any yellow exclamation marks in black then it means drivers are not there or might need updating etc

If its a card then check inside to see if its loose

If not reinstall drivers by using the disk the manufacturer has provided
