Sounds like you're using the wrong tool or somethin. If that's not it then I kinda need to know what exactly you're doin to be able to tell you what the problem is

grabbing my pen tool, selecting sections of the pic, and whenever I just click the pentool on a pic it makes a new shape layer.

does your pen tool have the settings right? (look at a rendering tut to see the proper settings)

 i got a kick out of your name. the one-winged angel is Sephiroth, is it not? anyhow, the latest photoshop is Photoshop CS2, which i am currently using. you can buy it from adobe at http://www.adobe.com for about $800, but I would not reccommend it. You could always ask your internet friends, however.... it takes a good while to learn but if you start on it, i'm tellin' ya', you'll be hooked! lol

anyway there is a trial available, so you can try that out before you make a decision about obtaining the full version.

hope this helps. i'm sure anyone else would've said the same lol

    Happy New Year!

You may have to do one or two things differently but in psp it should generally work the same way
