I've read alot of Computer Security articls back in the day and I decided to (in this post) to teach you some little cool, and completely safe tricks in Windows. Ok in this post I will teach you how to Shut Off Window's FileSharing which can lead your system to a Hacker attack. This applys to Window Owners only.

Step 1. Open your Control Panel (Start > Control Panel).

Step 2. Open (in Control Panel) Network and Internet Connections.

Step 3. Open Network Connections (In The Control Panel.)

Step 4. Goto your Local Area Connection (or your connection that you use) right click it and click properties.

Step 5. When the menu comes up find File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.

Step 6. Click File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks and go down and click "Uninstall".

Step 7. When this is finished please restart windows to take effect.

Step 8. After your computer restarts goto your My Computer icon.

Step 9. Click "Tools" at the top of the menu and click Folder Options.

Step 10. Click "View" tab when the menu comes up. Go down at the bottom of the scroll bars.

Step 11. Uncheck "Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended).

Well thats the end. I just want you all to take action in portection of your computers and take control of it. If this has messed up your computer (which in most cases will not) do these steps to reenable these features.

Step 5. Click "Install" then click Service and then the "Add" button.

Step 6. Click "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" Click Ok.

    Thats it.

Any questions, comments, or anything PM me or post here.

    BTW : I'm EX0S. I've restarted my account. :P

Where you've been man yes Windows has security risks. This teaches you how to remove the Windows File Sharing so that Hackers can't exploit this and get into your system's files sometimes Anti-Viruses and Firewalls don't stop EVERYTHING. You got to do other things that protect your computer.

is there a reason we cant just uncheck the thing in the folder options, instead of uninstalling and then installing the same thing?

Well no thats just the option for simple file sharing (if you do have file sharing set up on your computer) if you just turn that off then that will make more advance options for file sharing come up. The other thing with uninstalling it Shuts It Off Completely.

    Windows is a security risk.

    ----------------------

Anyways, this is apparently to turn off the capability of a windows based machine to share files on a network (by default, anything in the My Computer > Shared Documents folder). If you, like me, have your network set up so you can access files from the computer you'd be doing this to, that ability would cease to function.

I sure know I wont be doing this, becuase I use file sharing to access school related and other materials from my laptop when i cant be on this computer.

Go ahead. But if he says doing this will make me hack you or something then he's wrong. Plus I read many articles, books, and tutorials on security and do know a quite a thing or two. :P
