Ok, so here I go: No, I do not believe there is a supreme being. I belive that religion itself is a way of keeping people in line and keeping people happy. I understand that when I die, I become worm food and thats about it.
I would have to say I don't know, because I don't know if it's possible, or if it is. I'm just kind of confused right now, but my parents raised me to believe in a "God" and what not. So I donno, no one really knows.
there is no god watching down on us he was a person but he is no controller .... this will cause a fight so if mod. sees war he will prob. close
I want to say yes, but so many things happen that i cant even for certain say that the person infront of my eyes exists. The guy walking down the street across from me can just be something that i created in my imagination, the mind is a powerful thing. So many cultures had gods, they thought for certain their gods were true, but now they arent? What does time hold for my God? My God has survived the test of time, and is the same god for the 3 leading religions...time has shown that false Gods don't last too long or spread...so why my God? Is he true? What about science? Science seems irrefutable, but does it grind against religion? Can they coincide? I know nothing, and it is better that i do not. Faith and the human mind are remarkable enough to let me survive in reality, even if i need to create an unreality to do so. God may not exist for you, or for him or them or he or she, but he exists in me and i don't have to prove that or force it upon anyone else. Im at ease.
Well said man. God is something we choose for ourselves to believe in. Also another great piont made, what about science. The big bang theory. On the other hand, "God" created mother earth. So as Carny said, you have to believe in god, yourself. Its a belief, religion can not force that belief upon you. Very, very nice point Carny.
its been scientifically proven that there is no god.. though people can belice in him... there is none
Being a Christian myself, I was always skeptical of there existing a higher divine being. I went to church every sunday ( I wish I had the time to do that now...) like a good little boy (although I was hyper when I was little) and listened to the priest. This question, asked now, actually made me think for a bit. Yes, science has proven many things that were said to have been created by God in Christianity, though I'm not sure about other faiths and belief systems. A native legend (forget which exact tribe) believed that there was a woman in a canoe (forget her name) that called upon animals to fetch some clay from the bottom of the river, and shaped the earth with it. I personally believe that there isn't a God watching over us, but a little God in our heads. As I told my mother at the age of 10, "There isn't a God up there, but there's a God right here", I said, tapping my head. Call it reason, call it knowledge, call it ability, it's there. And the beauty of that is that you don't have to belong to any religion to have that little voice in the back of your head, since everybody has one. Studies seem to have proven that cancer patients who belong to a religion demonstrate enormously different (better, not worse) results tha those who do not have a religion (atheists). This, I think, is because the patients who DO have a religion have more to hope for, more to expect. This relates loosely to the Placebo Effect, as no medication is given, but the stimulant is in this case emotional reaction. Well, I guess I could have summed this up a little better, I'm even MORE confused after reading the DaVinci Code (Dan Brown, 2004). Read it if you haven't. It's got some almost irrefutable evidence and/or theory in there. Though I'm not denying the possibility that there is a divine being or something of the sort, (see the last minute or so of Men in Black for an example), and that our universe is not one that is a smaller part of something larger, that's just my opinion. Lanche out! EDIT: And Voltov, how has it been scientifically proven that there is no God? That's like going back 800 years and saying that it can be scientifically proven that the Earth is the center of the solar system (though, at the time, they would have considered it to be the complete universe.)
I think that this is the wrost subject ever to pick it makes people to fight over there beliefs in life yes I do belive in god but im not going to fight over that god is real or not and im very much disagreeing with the guy (I foregot his name ) who says that there has been scientific facts that god isnt real but if you prove me wrong so be it .
I'm actually not sure at the moment. I want to believe there is but so many things keep me from doing so without a doubt. With that said, I still get upset when I see people posting saying there IS or ISN'T a god. Not stating they don't think there is, or that they think there is... but saying that there is or isn't. You don't know, no one knows. So untill we do, I don't think it's a good topic to argue over because there will never be an end untill we know the truth.
