    Ok, I just bought a Netgear Gigabit PCI Adaptar : 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet GA311.. To put that in similar for it's a Network Adapter or Network InterFace Card. Ok, so It came with instructions but I didn't bother reading until after puttingthe card in the PCI slot.. Then when I read the directions it says Put the Installation CD first then shut down computer and put the card in.. Is there any way to make that " New Hardware Window " pop up again? I was installing it a whole different way :\..

    I've installed things the wrong way before and wasn't a problem.

    If it still doesn't work, just uninstall it, and fit the card again.

    But when I click it nothing comes up, so what should I do, take out the card and put it back in?

    go to Control Panel-->add new hardware

    If your lucky it will find the hardware and install the driver off the cd rom that you have in your drive.

    So basically you want to hook your xbox up to your pc and use it's internet connection to go on xbox live. I'm pretty sure that you need an ethernet crossover cable, not just a regular one. Have a look on the xbox website for some help.

    You need a CAT-6 Cable for that, not a regular CAT-5. Go pick one up at Wal-Mart for $10

    I had this problem too. Just run the new hardware wizard and make sure that you have "[ ]Have disk" and "[ ]Try Windows Update" checked. It may be your driver also. Try updating your computers drivers and see if it works.

    OK, this is what to do man:

    Start
    --> Settings
    --> Control Panel
    --> Add/Remove HardWare
    --> Follow the instructions given.

    Just try that and if it doesn't work, then I'm out of ideas.
