At the moment I'm using the log-on screen. (You know profile things, administrator, yournamehere, guests etc.) I'm using this for privacy reasons, I don't want my parents sneaking around my stuff in my computer. So is there something so I can 'lock' my pc so you have to enter a pw and the screen unfreezes; or something like that.

Thanks Guys, if you have any questions, just shoot! :)

yea there is an option to where if the screensaver has been on for an extended period of time you can have it lock your computer. something like that?

just go into user account options and change the way they log in and out. now you can CTRL alt Del and you can lock your computer whenever your not there.

Yeah that's what I do now, but what I mean is that you can see the actual desktop but that you can't do anything. Like it's just locked or frozen.

I think you guys don't understand. I want it to be possible that my pc can start up like normally to my desktop, so I can just turn on the pc go downstairs and come up. Now I have to start my PC, then put my password, then go through a loading proces.

I just want my desktop to be visible but that noone can acces it.

If i get what you mean, you have to only have one xp account on your computer (no guest etc) and no password. Then as far as i know, it boots straight to your desktop.

EDIT: Don't think what you wants possible, unless you have a 1 minute password screensaver.

Is it possible to have a screensaver that doesn't do anything. Just freezes?

i dunno there is not point to have a screensaver like that. screensavers are supposed to save your monitor from burn in

Theres programs you can download with different screensaves, and after the mouse etc is moved it prompts you for a password before you can do anything.

Idea just came to me, you could download a program that freezes your desktop until password is entered, then get it to autorun when windows loads. Would solve your problem

like if you have a static image on your Monitor after a period of time it will burn into your screen. kind of like on a tv. point of screensaver is to have something moving on the screen so you dont get burn in. or just complete make the screen go black.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screensaver

this really only applies to CRTs
