go to your local computer store and ask for a good graphics card that will work with your pc's motherboard. You need to find out the type of motherboard and tell the people at the pc store what it is and they will tell you what graphics card to buy.

Well since this thread is up... I was wondering if a Radeon 9800 was worth the extra money. I want a cheaper card that will play ALL games on ultra high quality without a problem at all.

Yeah, DEFINITELY worth the extra money. Running everything on High Quality? Meh, depends. If your talking about games like FarCry, HL2, Doom3, then no, but you will get great performance. If you really want a nice card then go for the GeForce 6800 GT, Ultra, or Radeon X800 series. You got to remember that the video card isn't the only thing you need to run these games either. If you have a God-Like card but a a slower processor, the video card will not work to it's full potential. If your planning on getting the GeForce 6800 series/Radeon X800 series then you should have about a 2.5 ghz processor or faster. If you want a Radeon 9800 you would probably want 2.0 ghz or more processor speed so you get the performance you want out of it, and not waste your money. Hope this helps, later.

First thing you should do is to check if a new card is worth buying, by checking that it has an AGP slot, otherwise the new graphics cards will have nowhere to put into the motherboard.

its the brown one, just a bit smaller then a PCI port

    I have a 2.54 Ghz Pentium 4 with 512 DDRram.

So I could run one of these amazing cards, like the GeForce 6800 or the Radeon x800? And how much are we talking here?

300 - 500 dollars for one of thoes, depending on what model you choose. Thanks whoever posted the pic of the AGP slot, to me it sounds like this guy simply didn't have an AGP slot. Some of thoes dells come with onboard video and no slot. So esentially you could be screwed. You have to know what your doing before you just jump into it.

Dell isn't very upgrade friendly, so if you plane on upgrading in the future you should build a custom. And if you don't have an AGP slot your not "screwed". You could just get a PCI card (Which are worse, except I'm not sure about these new PCI "Expres" cards), and then just plug it into the PCI slot. And yea, those new cards are very expensive ($300-$400) and require a lot amount of power. So you gotta make sure your power supply is up for the job too.
