hey, i found my old 3 year computer in my closet, and i have to turn it on and off, until it actually starts, and i took it apart to see the video card, and then put it back together, but now doesnt turn on no matter what i do, i think i did something wit the card, but if any1 knos what i should do?
Did you plug it into the right spot? Did you plug in it into the power supply? Did you drop it or set it down on an unprotected surface? Did you touch the power supply or computer frame before you took it out? There can be many reasons why it isn't working.
Hmm.. well one possibility that I can think of is that you may not have touched a metal surface before touching any hardware, which could of messed up some parts, mattering on how old the parts are. Other than that, just make sure everything is placed in right, nothing is look or anything..and if its been sitting there for years clean out the dust
Like chronic said, theres tons of things that could have happaned, like if you were on maybe a carpet when you opening it and built up some charge while doing so and accidently touched something in there while charged. Your computer should boot up I think even without an actual graphics card, you'd just get error beeps from the motherboard if it doesnt have any graphic rescources. Does you motherboard have integrated graphics? if it does, plug the monitor into that with the graphics card disconnected to see if you broke the card somehow. And your sure the power supply is connected to the motherboard, right?
no, i didnt do anything to it, exept i took it apart on the carpet but even before that,it wasnt working good, it took me a few min to turn t on anyway, but now, doesnt turn on at all
sorry for double posting but i forgot to say, it turns on, but nothing shows up on the screen, its a dell screen, it works dont worry, but the computer isnt dell, the brain shows green light, always when its on, but i dont thing its geting the stuff to the moniter
which port is your monitor plugged into. As you have a graphics card, there should be two places to plug the monitor into on the back. Try taking the plug out and connecting it to the other one.
Hmm there are many probls possible, but i suggest unless you are exp with comp hardware its not worth fixing it, just buy a new or or call tech support to your house.
i dont need a neew 1, i just dont like laying things on my laptop, and i heard tyhe ATI rage 128, the 1 thats in the computer is good, thats why i wanna fix it, so you mean i dont need to connect the moniter to the video card?
Yep, the static from the carpet probably fried all the components, your doomed buddy, that computers a gonner xD
