How do you people get inspiration for art?

I usually only take on a project/sig/work if I know what I am doing and am sure of what I want it to look like.

How can I get inspiration for creating new works?

I can't say i have inspiration for my work...
I just find a render i like and go something like "Oh that would look great with colour x and background x, covered with brushes x y z"
I just do them for fun and when i get some free time :D

Got to agree with morpheuz, my inspiration usually comes from seeing people's sig.

When I get a strong feeling like, happyness, angry, sad etc I'll make a manip, like last night I was angry at something and I made a manip of someone with wounds, scars and burns on their skin, then i'd discreetly name it after whoever made me angry.

    :P

I do the same as Raziel. I look through my render collection till one stands out at me then i just play around with it till im happy. If i get stuck or suddenly lose the inspiration i scrap it and start again

I use music, and sometimes films or stuff on tv.
Sometimes if you just half listen to these things you get an image in your head of what it makes spring to mind, and i use that for inspiration and ideas.

I start with random light brushing a lot, and then I start detailing it. I rarely actually know what I want it to come out as, it just develops as i go
