Someone broke into mine and moms aparment about 2 years ago.. neither of us was home at the time, but it still scared the sh*t out of me. We're dog pepole though and well we have 2 dogs at home, and they barley let pepole they know in (if they know you they let you in but they come running and barking).. and well they might not be big but they can still be kinda dangerous (take a german sheperd and cut of it's legs and you got my dogs.. they'll rip your legs apart more or less.. >..>).

But having a large dog usually makes pepole think twice about entering your house when the dog is in. My previous dog was a thing on 150 pounds roughly.. would you want to mess with a dog that weighs as much or more than you? Not really...

Also a weapon does help, if you're not into guns atleast get a knife, I always keep a little switchblade around my room.. that or my larger scout knife.... that and my katana set is currently on my desk (cheap stuff though.. would probably breake if I used it on someone :P)... and some other knife is somewhere in my desk (can you tell I'm the "poke you with a sharp pointy thing" kind of person? :P).

Upgrading your home security kinda goes without saying. And make sure to use it.. looks and alarms won't do you any good if you don't use it.. even if it is "complicated" (the more you use it the less complicated it becomes..)
