if you are patient, you should wait until AMD releases its procs on the 65nm process or until intel releases merom. Same goes for windows vista. all this should be out by the 2nd quarter 06 so... waiting is good, other than that you seem to be on the right track.
No thats not a good psu. Stick with the brands - antec, epower, tagan, ocz, topower, seasonic. No point in waiting zelink. All the new stuff is coming out at different times. Intel - End Q2 2006 AMD - M2 End Q2 2006 Vista - November 2006 AMD 65nm - Q1 2007. Never wait for new stuff as there is always more stuff around the corner. Anyways it is recommended to leave new processor sockets alone for a few months to sort out bugs. This is the same especially for windows vista, leave that for about 6 months and you will see SP1 released. Also for the fact that once vista comes out and you find out more about it you wont want it. Only tech noobs and kids who want a cool looking OS will buy it. You will not see techies after it, they will wait for SP3 for XP or continue using there linux distros.
are the PSUs you suggested, DeFuZioN, low-volume, and low heat? I have one of the Ultra PSUs, and it is quiet, and low heat... this is my current PSU on this computer: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...30&sku=ULT31839 had it four about 3 months now, no problems...
I have always been told to stick away from ultra, and only buy one if I have to. The antec psus are top of the range. The NeoHE series is new, features two 12v rails and it supports the upcoming ATX v2.2 (think thats what its called) and that will be required soon, so you have future upgradeability there. The are low heat and produce very little noise.
there are different rails. 12v, 5v, 3v, etc. Now what we want to know about them is how many amps are on those rails. In the case of psus we want the highest possible amps on the 12v rails as the others are usually standard. When looking at a psu with only one 12v rail get one that has at least 22a on it anything lower could effect performance or void warranties (nvidia gfx cards). However dual rail or higher psus are good because it means that there are two 12v rails to provide more power and in the case of NeoHE's they are quite high with 19a on each rail I believe. so effectively thats 48amps. Plenty of power and you arent risking parts and warranties.
Just FYI if you are going to overclock a Single 12V rail is better than dual or more 12V rails. Also don't forget Zippy as a recommanded PSU
if you can spell, yeah... I'll go with DeFuZioN's suggestion, he knows his stuff. I'm more of a troubleshooting person than an expert on different parts.
They are more of a Server power supply but http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/show...?t=136602&pp=20 http://www.zippy.com.tw/P_PRODUCT.asp?lv_rfnbr=2 http://www.zippy.com.tw/P_product_detail.a...1EGSM-6600P(G1)
