Heh, we got are door fixed the other day, and we have an alarm system but we never turn it own, cuz it to hard the manage.

The crazy thing is today i woke up early because someone was knocking at my door. We i got up looked out the window their was a cop talking to my neighbor, i wonder if anything fishy happen.
My dad is actually a cop, im 17. I doubt the thief would want to come in with me are my dad home though. We both are like 6'4 and he is alot heavier than me.

Actually though we have really poor security, when the first thief broke in the door wasn't lolocked and he was drunk. It was thanskgiving day and their was a physical confritation between one of the adults before he fled. The second thief broke in through the garage door. We left it open, which when i think about it is stupid. The door is raised feet,(5 stair thingys) so we you look at it from the road you can't see the upper body of anybody in there, and it gets really dark, being its a two car garage. We have a backdoor facing tthe woods, and thats where he left out with. He was in a hurry though, cuz are door beeps every time it opens and oly got a dvd player and a sweeter than had to be left in the living room.
Dont really believe in buying guns, are anything like that, besides the one my dad has to because he is an officer...

I deal with cops all the time. I'm also a vol. firefighter. And my best friends father in-law is the cheif of police. Also various other relatives of mine are in law enforcement. There is really no way to keep someone out. Just like a safe all it does it buy you time. You may be a big guy.. I would think twice :) but you can't stop a bullet. I'm just glad I live where I do. There really isn't that much crime in this area. If you system is hard to manage there is easier ones that work just as well. Theres alot that just work on remote key chains ect. If you get motion dectectors and window / door contacts. You can set the alarm and do a walk-thru and it will shut down the motions in your house. So you can walk around freely. But if a door or window opens the alarm will beep.. the delay to give you time to shut it off if your coming in from the outside.. Then it will sound. Depending on the system. Thats what I use in my house and i've never have any problems. Plus I updated my locking system to have push button access. There also deadbolts that work on remote. So theres really no excuse for being to complicated. Just update. It cost money .. yes I know but you can't put a price on your belongings. Like a baseball card your grandpa gave you when you were 5. ya know?

My friends mom used to carry a butterfly and a switch in her purse.

People in here saying that you would get a bat hammer etc, you have no clue, the people that rob houses aren't nice people, they are deperate, and desperate people do desperate things, and unless they are just really stupid or nailed outta their mind they will have some kind of weapon, and most cases it will probably be bigger or better than yours :]

If you dads a cop, and if your worried about it, I would look into getting a handgun. If you do get a handgun look for an XD nice gun, and if you dad is a cop he can probably get you a great deal.

Other than that, don't worry about it, sleep comfortably knowing that someone can break into your house at any time :P

No thanx, gunz aren't for me. I would rather used the hammer, I'm the more physical type...Its actually not that scary though, my dad just gave me the advice said the main thing is just to get out of the house if someone breaks in. If a robber breaks in he would much rather you be traped in a house than running crazy on the street, thats a perspective of my dad. I believe it to be better also, than hiding in a closet are something also. I doubt seriously that either of the robbers that broke into my house where armed.

That's some really bad luck you've fallen under, dude. I'm prepared for anything, living in NYC and I sleep with a crowbar under my bed, and I have something called 'Apartment Insurance' that I got when I bought my last car, so if anything is stolen, I can get it replaced.

This really sucks that it seems you've been targeted by some lowlife who can't go out and buy stuff like the rest of us working stiffs.

Funny thing once, though. I kept getting jumped on my way to school (used to be really short) so my mother suggested that I carry pepper spray with me. I told my grandmother and she said (literally) 'Pepper Spray? F*** that!! Here, fill this spray bottle with bleach, and next time it happens, blind the b*******!!!"

I'd suggest something immediate to keep in your room, someting to knock them out long enough for you to call the police. If it was the same person both times, then problem solved. If not, then anyone else who may be scoping your house might get deterred from trying it again if they saw someone get busted for breaking & entering.

    Good luck, dude.

Dead bolts, unpickable locks, and some window locks do the trick.

Someone did that with my younger 16 year old cousin.... except he "acted" like he was sleeping. The guy came into his room and when my cousin started to turn, he hustled out the broken back door and drove off. This isn't the 1st time either - same with my house. I always keep a knife with me and he always has a bat.
