If this was a debate that originated on a forum I'd drag out that special olympics picture.

That's why my boyfriend doesn't really like to blow all his money on gifts because he doesn't like how the meaning of Christmas got lost in giving & receiving presents.

I enjoy the season, but I also don't have a lot of money to just spend on what people want - kids are expensive these days.

I think they should say merry christmas, or at least in the US. i think this because it was originally founded on the basis of christianity, which is why when we are in court, what do we swear on? A bible. What do we say say in the pledge of allegiance? One nation, under GOD. The US was originally made with all the founding fathers believing christianity, so everybody should say merry christmas. All of those people who get offended are just trying to start drama. If I went to Afghanistan and they were saying Happy Rahmadan, I wouldn't get offended.

yes christmas is about the birth of christ, but also the idea of exchanging gifts came from italy, which is why we celebrate it today. and the idea of santa also came from italy, but in italy they had a witch that came around and put gifts in your shoes when you went to sleep. i know it sounds odd, but it is true. lol well thats the way i put it
