okay im having a problem with my internet connection for some strange rason...i usually get kicked from xfire, aim, etc within 5-10 minutes from when i sign on and i have high speed connection, optimum. This shouldnt be happening and i dont think its the cable modem because when i direct connect to it, i do not get kicked. I think it might be the router that i have. Also, when i try to set up PS2 online, it doesnt work. and when i try to set up PS2 online, its connected from the router to the ps2 console. i think it says no internet connection. if anyone knows what the problems is or can help id really appreciate it... thx alot

Some suggestions..And steps I have for you to do..

    Steps :

1.) Shut-Down all computers in your house.
    2.) Shut down the modem.
3.) Then shut down th Router.
4.) Wait for 15 seconds to eleminate statical charge.
5.) Turn the modem on first.
6.) Then turn on the router.
    7.) Then turn your computers.
    8.) Try accessing the internet.

If that does not work, I'll think of something. I didn't cleary read your post if this is the wrong information.

Edit : And without directly connecting your modem you're going wirelessly, Am I correct?

could be the hardware firewall on your router. you would need to open the correct pots then. what type/version router do you have?

Hold on, so your saying when you don't directly connect you get kicked off but when you do directly connect you don't get kicked off?
