    my comp runs slow alot and freezes for some reason.how do i make it speed up?

    New processor would be the best, but RAM if you don't have a lot. If you have XP you should have at least 512 mbs of RAM.

    i think i got around 256 ram and i got xp.my comp allways freezes its annoyin lol

    System specs pleaze?

    Have you run disk defragment? disk cleanup? scandisk? etc etc...

    make sure u dont have any spyware/virus/etc.

    Just find some free tools on the internet to scan for them

    Download Avast! for viruses.
    Download Ad-aware for spyware.
    Download SpywareBlaster to stop spyware from reaching your system.
    Download CCleaner to clean up your computer a bit.
    Download Perfect Disk for a disk defragmenter.

    Yes, first scan your computer for any malicious software.

    Then do a disk cleanup:
    Start > All Programs > Acessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup

    Then do a Disk Defrag (takes a few hours):
    Start > All Programs > Acessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

    what are your system specs. as you have such a low amount of ram I would suggest increasing your pagefile alot to accomadate for decreased ram but also get a 1gb stick, at least a 512mb stick though.

    first off all format your pc and make a clean installation, than put the soft that ppl had suggest in the previous post ;)

    p.s.with xp sp2 256 ram all pcs are slow :(

    XP runs fine with 256 MB RAM.

    if it freezes its eith er overheating of cpu or of gpu , spywares cant really do that i mean if u ask me i never have an anti spyware or antivirus installed and it never freezes for me so... that doesent have anything to do with it.

    Yes pcs with running xp with 256mb ram will run slow. Spyware does slow down you pc so dont comment. And as his pc is old I doubt its a heat issue.

    well i got norton internet secruity so thats like £50 so im sure that will help lol

    calm down plz..format a pc is a simply things to accomplish ;)
    me n00b?I don't think so..my work is assemble, installing SO and sell pc, plus I make assistence...if a pc run slow, before make some like use progz that will going to compromise the windows registry is a good thing format and than check if all is ok :)
