Recently, from a trip to a research instittution, I went back to looking at what would make a good laptop, seeing that there are differences in OSs. You see, I do a lot of things thatd need a laptop (My mom tried to give me one with a 30 min battery and a Windows 2000 OS, but I just cant find use of it). I once considered a Powerbook or iBook because its good for graphic designing, has the essentials (PowerPoint, a Word-type program, and so forth), and - most of all - a good battery life (6 hrs). Now, I know there are PCs (I mean as laptops using the standard Windows XP) out there, but they take the same technology for an equal or heavier price. Also, I never even thought of Linux. Question: Should I get an Apple or a PC? -and- What do you use yourself or prefer?
You dont make sense. Apple computers are PC's, but they run on a totally different operating system. I am assuming by "PC's" you mean computers that run on Windows. Or are you comparing Laptops and PC's? Please clarify but if you travel alot, i would get a Microsoft Laptop, if you stay at home, a Microsoft PC. I personally just dont like Apples OS.
I was walking about laptop systems that use different OSs since they also vary on model this way (IE: VAIOs and HPs using Windows XP, iBooks and Powerbooks using Panther/Tiger from Mac)
Acer, Dell's XPS, or IBPower are good laptops. If you do graphics alot, I would suggest either Windows or MAC. There are ways to get PS on Linux, but it is tricky...
you can run linux on both standard PCCs and PCCs FYi. I honestly wouldn't know. you get better hardware with typicaly PCs, but a better OCs with macs, your choice.
If your going to play games I would suggest Windows but if your going to use photoshop, etc.. I would get a Mac
I like the Mac OS better... that is ofcourse because I usually like what everyone hates... so I like Apple, in fact the only thing keeping me from getting on is pricing. The final decision is up to you, but Id go with Apple.
Ubuntu linux. Basically, it'll take you from the beginning to the end. By one that comes with XP, and make a dual boot. Not that hard, just googe around for some guides or look on linux forums.
But you lose support. Linux doesnt have viruses because thats what people use to make them, linux. Mac has none because not as many people use them. Windows is only targeted because the majority use it.
