Is he using a firewall, If so which kind?
Other than firewall, I don't know whats wrong..

Edit : It couldn't be a connection problem, I highly doubt that if his AIM works and stuff..

Possibally parental controlls, ask him is he can go to www.google.com.

what connectiuon does he have? DSL/Cable? Wireless? Dial-up?

does the DSL led on the modem lite up?

are you sure his IP/Gateway/DNS is set up right?

could he get onto the net before? can you do a system restore to the point when it worked?

What kind of modem does he have and who is his ISP ?

I don't think it's the DSL Light, it should be the Internet light because how can he go on aim but not go on the internet?

Sheesh, that's weird..Never happened to me..

Ok, Zone Alarm is tough, tell him to go to the slidable bar ( The bar with the start button ) , Right click zone alarm and click on Shut Down Zone Alarm, Then a screen will pop up, click on yes.. Try to access the internet from there.

If that does not work try to do the following :

    Turn off the computer(s)

    Shut Down the modem

If he has a router, shut the router down after you shut the modem down.

Unplug the The modem plug for any statical charge for 15 seconds to eliminate statical charge.

Of course plug back the plug.

Turn on the modem first, then turn on the router (If he has one.)

Then turn on the computer and Shut down ZoneAlarm.

    Try that.

Edit : You can go to google with parentell control on because theres no option to block Search Engines I don't think.

Also what did the corrupted error screen say?
