sorry I dont know why I said asus. I meant abit. The abit is better than that gigabyte, but whatever you want will be fine.
Ahh well when you said Asus, I thought Asrock well ok, I'll see about getting the abit...just gotta tally up the prices and then I'll see how it goes.. I'll do that tomorrow
oh ok, anyways the asrock will take your processor. Its probably the best bang for your buck board on the market at the moment. Followed by the DFI Ultra-D which can be modded in about 1 minute to support SLI.
Ok question.. when installing WinXP 64bit on my new computer, should I partian my HD or no? Whats the advantage to that? I dun get it...
Hey bud, One of the reasons why I would partition is if I wanted to dual boot Windows and Linux. Also, if you have 2 partitions, you can save all your personal stuff on the second one, so when you have to reinstall windows, you can have it only re-partition the first block, it will not hurt the second one. hope that clears it up
Ahh..ok.. that would make me not have to redownload all 1000 songs of mine eh... and all my gfx files thanks dude also, i'm readin thru all the installation and stuff bout xp64 bit...it says some 32 bit antivirus programs wont work, how do I know if, lets say Avast will work then? Do they just have to come out witha version on the site for 64 bit systems?
yep. I have a seperate hard drive actually, that I save all my music, program installers, and DVD rips on. I'm using up about 30Gb of my 40GB, lol... alot of big boy software...
Yea I have an old 40gig one I may end up using with my 75 gig one...that way the 115gb's should be good enough... I just hope I know how to wire everything together..and i have all the wires I need... btw, thanks for all the help dude..
using two hardrives is always a good idea even if you don't go RAID0. you can always back up data to it, save games to the 2nd HDD(faster loading because you can reserve the defualt HDD for windows and BG applications), get set for transfering setting when reinstalling OSes, run dual boot with less hassle etc.
Ok thanks...to zelink and master Lets see.. WD Caviar IDE Hard Drive 40GB and i'm just gonna guess its 7200 RPM anyway.. Now am I going to have to buy some extra wiring for this 2nd HD also, I heard about getting anti-static straps or doing anti-static stuff before handling computer parts. Does anyone know what else I can do instead of getting the straps if I cant find any? I remember something about touching metal ro whatever..
Touch the case, PSU, or anything that is metal. try keeping one hand frequently on the grounded (metal) source. thanks for the Rep  (I think you +Repped me before the server went down, then it went down and lost the Rep...) P.S.- I rarely do this, but I never shocked a system. The new boards these days won't die once you shock em. this was a precaution with older systems...
OH ok thanks.. and I could of sworn I repped you, guess that was why i think i'll go wtih this cd/dvd rom drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827135136 good buy? good brand? anyway.. my two mobo's: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...315#DetailSpecs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...212#DetailSpecs (unsure if its work the extra 40 bucks..) can anyone else besides defuzionz give their opinion? nothing against you defuzion, i just want more than one opinion on this. thanks in advanced.. EDITl ok forget bout that damn gigabyte. Reviews were too unreliable..for now I will look for a board thats like my 115 dollar one, just for bout 90-100 bucks instead
You should get just a dvd rw. As for win 64bit. Its a waste. If you have anything extra things to plug in especially webcams and new printers it will be hard to get them working. As for mobos the gigabyte is fine but if you ever decide to oc in the future you will not get anywhere with the gigabyte. If you want experienced opinions check out http://forums.amd.com
Thanks.. and I can get 64 bit or the normal version, why not just get the 64bit? I dont use a printer on this computer, i have a different one for that, and I doubt I'll get a webcam or whatever. Dont judge it by price difference, just usability, I figured it would be easier to get the 64 bit cuz eventually I would need it in the future but should I just wait untill then?
