if you copy your stuff to the 2nd hard drive, and disconnect it while you clean out your main drive, it won't touch it.

Yep the files on 2nd Drive wont be touched [as master said - hehe]

Unless you make a mistake of putting the wrong drive letter in :D or delete the wrong drive :D

If its portable disconnect - if its inside the PC then make sure u remeber the drive letter and make sure u dont format that ;)

save all garbage to 2nd hardrive

    physically disconect it...

    reformat first HDD. Done.

also, you might want to try "repairing" windows which is simply using the windows disc and having ti write over all your windows and system files while elaving everything else in tact.

There's no need to disconnect the second HDD unless you're paranoid.

You can also use a program called "Norton Ghost" that copies everything on the HDD, then you reformat, and put the Ghost copy back on the HDD. I've never used it before, however, so I can't provide much more help.

    G'luck.

You have to do something called FDISK, which is a real PIA because it's so extremely hard to get it running easily. Google "FDISK" and search around. There should be some tutorials on something else about deleting partitions.
