Well, we had an area power cut, so while I was using my pc everything stopped and then restarted. So when it loaded again, it took more time to load the icons on the task bar. I didn't know what to do so I did Run-msconfig, then enabled all programs to startup. Restarted it but still nothing worked. After that not a single icon loaded on the taskbar at all. How can I return it back to a normal state. Thanks.
your ram, hard drive, and/or CPU must have shortened out, so now it has to work twice as hard to do everything. I always tell people to get a UPS, so if the power does go out, you have time to safely shut down your computer...
ya that sux .. i had the same problem.. but i fixed it in a dumb way actually .. my dad thoguth it were the end of the world so i got a new pc ..
Just give it time to start up and then shut it down propperly. Then start it back up. It should load everything fine. Arbiter
Did Spyware, Adware scan. Cleared History etc. Still don't work. How can I fix it if it "shortened up"?
hmm, I dunno exactly what is wrong... if you have less ram then you started, then you need new ram. If you have bad sectors on your hard drive, you need either a new hard drive or Spinrite, which may or may not fix the problem. If your CPU gets overheated, it is working harder, so it gets hotter. I would maybe just suggest to backup everything and re-install windows. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest getting a barebone kit, which will allow you to use all your current hardware, except your motherboard and CPU, and sometimes memory. I'd say get this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/se...a&CMP=ILC-FPM04 or any of these: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/ca...lc.asp?CatId=31
