I got a new computer, but im kinda disappointed in the graphics card I dont know much about computers, but i thought this comp i got was a good deal Anyways i want to get a new vid card (looking at a a ATI x800gt PCI, i think) And i need to know if i can just put it in there, or if the integrated card needs to be removed? The computer specs are here: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...10067296&catid= So will i be able to just put the card in, or what will i have to do to upgrade the vid card
o and these are the video cards im looking at X700 Pro x700-SE 256mb x800gt 256mb And will these cards be able to run games like cod 2 and bf 2 at like 70+ FPS on MP?
well, the graphics are intergrated which means they are on the motherboard. The site doesnt say the specs of the motherboard but it does say it has 2 pci slots. those cards you are looking at are pci express which is completely different than pci. so from the looks of it you are stuck with what you have because im not even sure theys till make pci gfx cards.
pci gfx cards are made, just not anymore... you can find a few on tigerdirect.com at: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/ca....asp?CatId=319&
yeah but none of the pci cards would be worth getting compared to his intergrated graphics. sorry torx
wait according to hp site there is a pcie slot http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...cname=c00496280 scroll down a bit
If thats the mother board in there for sure then you are golden. Bang for buck wise id reccomend a 6800gt to you.
if ur planning bf2 of cod2 its also going to be heavily dependant on how much RAM u have, with your 512 its going to be tough to run them on anything higher than low details, if u got another 512 you could probably run mediums on bf2 smoothly and maybe highs on cod2 if you used the 6800gt. As for the 70fps thing, it all depends on how fast your screen refresh rate is. Most monitors run at 60-75hz or 60-75 times per second. If your running 100fps on a 60hz monitor, its not going to matter, bc the screen isnt refreshing that fast. Hope that helps a little...
o ya i just bought a 512 stick, so now i have 1 gig So is the 6800 gt better then the x800gt 256 or x700-se 256?
the 6800gt is a better value and will perform well for you. This generation of vid cards Nvidia came out on top and the 6800s were a big reason for that. personally I own a 7800gt but I have used and installed a few 6800s and hear/read nothing but great thigns about them.
7800 is a little to much imo to spend on a computer its like 500 bucks here in canada, so its not really worth it
