Try a fresh install of windows before you go buying anything. Is your somputer modded at all? or is it like a compaq or dell or something? if its the later its cooling should be sufficient.

I used to have this problem then I reformatted and it went away. It might have been a virus or bug, not sure (this will only work if its a software- related problem). It also could be that you have too many programs running and it will be forced to shut down. Other than that im not sure.

How much ram have you got?
If your computer is randomly shutting down it may well be that you havnt got enough to run what youre running.

man insuffidient ram will never cause your system to shut down. It would only cause it to slow to a snails pace if you tried to run many or certain programs. Don't tell the guy he needs to buy more ram.

Try roll back to change back as it was before (if it was better before)
Or Un-Install all applications you installed the latest 3 weeks or so...

Mine did that right before my power supply died.

At least one person here knows what they're talking about.

No reason to do a reinstall either.

    Check your power supply.

If you're getting any error messages, post them as this might not be a power supply problem.

Have you recently installed any new hardware, like a cd-burner or something? If you have incompatible drivers, your system would also shut down if it hits a stop/hault error.

With more information I can analyze this better for you. ;)

May I suggest checking out your fans?

also I also sometimes get a random shutdown before, but I found out it was some bad RAM attached on my motherobard, maybe..... you can test out urs, by taking out some ram....

Hope you'll fix your random shutdown prob.
