The only cheaper motherboard that will work ok and has a good rep is the ASRock Dual-SATA2, if you can find that cheaper which it should be get that. As for the hl:lost coast thing. You will do fine with a 3000 or 3200 plus as my computer runs it fine. The x800GTO is an AWESOME CARD!! 4600 3D 05 Marks. The 6800GT only gets an extra 400. And anyways the x800 will perform better in half life games (cs,etc) because the ati cards are built for direct x9. your motherboard is obselete, it supports AGP 4x. I would suggest getting a newer motherbaord with PCI-e and perhaps even a cheap processor(3000+ is decent, a considerable step above a 2.6GHz P4, especially for gaming). if that isn't an option, I'd probably have to says go nvidea 6800, if it is get an ATI x1600(about 160$) and put the rest into the processor and motherboard. if you have a bit more cash above that, try going for n X1800 FYI the X1xxx series is in the same league as the nvidea 7800 DO NOT GET AN Xxxx card from ATi thsoe are compareatively sucky compaed to the X1000s and don't even cost any less.

No way! The x800gt/o are better than the 6800GT and below. The x1300 are horrible, in fact all the x1000 series are brutal except for the x1800XT which beats a 7800gtx 256mb. Anyways I checked out the price of the 6800GS which was recommended in the thread on amd and it will probably suit you better so go for that.
wats better , a x800GTO or XT? and is the GiCube x1600XT better than the 800 series? cuz its supposed to also i've found that 6800GS for cheap , is it better than the GT and ULTRA? i really dont know what to do now...i've found the following with reasonable prices:- eVGA 6800GS 256MB DVI, PCI-E GeCube Radon X1600XT Sapphire ATI RADEON X800 GTO now wich one of these is the best?(i dont want a video card that is OKIE , i want a video card that is perfect , that can play all new games smoothly on high quality) i've ben looking at benchmarks of some new games , and the 6800GS seems tight , its supposed to be better than the GT right? if thats the case thin thats it am getting the 6800GS , cuz in the lost coast benchmarks the 6800 GT is better than the x800 , and with 54 FPS while the 7800GTX has 75 FPS , so i should expect the GS to have more than 54 fps , and in the doom3 benchamrks , the GT is allmost the one with the best performance , so am i true? the 6800 GS is better than the gt and the x800 XL ? should i get it?
