it would, but not at full spec. just hold off on the gfx card upgrade and save up til you have $700 at least and buy a new cpu, mobo and gfx cause your setup is old.

it wont fry the card. Those cards are designed to work in both 8x and 4x it just wont run aswell.

no they arent meant to work on boty 4x and 8x , BUT they can run 4x the only problem is risk of overheating.

so wich parts do i need to upgrade?
and since ur saying that my cpu isnt good enough for the 6800 ultra , do i have to buy an expensive one like the AMD Athlon™64 3700+? or will a 3000 or less work?

just get a cheap setup like this for an easy and cheap upgrade that will perform well -

    AMD 64 3000/3200+
    Asrock Dual-SATA2/Gigabyte GA K8NF-9
    256mb x800GT/256mb x800GTO

That will be a good solid setup. The option before the slash is budget and the one after is the better option. That will cost roughly $380-420

    and if i buy AMD 64 3000/3200+
    Asrock Dual-SATA2/Gigabyte GA K8NF-9
will i be able to get the 6800 ultra to work on my computer?

and by the way , is the gigabyte 6800 ultra for pci-e?? cuz i thought its for agp , and now i went to there website and its pci-e

    also ive found a cheap
    AMD Athlon 64 3200 939 TRAY

but the AMD Athlon 64 3000 is much cheaper , so will it make alot of diffirence?

Asrock and the gigbytes are motherboards.
The 6800Ultra is in both agp and pci-e.

maybe you need more RAM too, since if you get a $400 graphics card you will need other things to be better for the graphics card to make your games faster + smoother

    1. because your current one is for intel cpus
