yeah if you can get your hands on an operton 165 939pin cpu, best for overclocking and will beat all above at stock even.

yea , opterons beat athlons... actually they themseleves are athlons with better overclocking capabilities. dual core opterons are very expensive so i think thats not actually a choice for him right now,

they are not that expensive and yes they are just athlons but they have passed higher quality testing.

AMD is the better processor company period, buy from them and you will be happy however overclocking is more efficient on Pentium processors because AMD creates more heat. Still buy the AMD you will not be disapointed.

struth you know nothing. p4's generate LOTS OF HEAT!!!

my amd runs at 28-30C Normal Load. 35-38C Gaming
my intel runs at 40-45C Normal Load 50-55C Gaming

Intels run hotter because they are running more cycles per second which are not as efficient, whereas the amd does more work per cycle and doesnt have to do as many generating less heat. not to mention intels come with poor hs/f.

the standard hs/f that come with P4s suck, yes, but most hs/f that i have seen are compatable with AMD. most, not all.

just dont get a dual core all the games currently out dont even utilize a 2nd core and only some programs do, so its better to buy a fast single core cpu:

amd is better for gaming to and intel is better for business so pick which one you need.

this is what i have and it runs all games great:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103497

and i accompany it with 3gbs of ram so i can encode things and play games at same time and get no lag at all.

dual cores run fine with games. Dual cores are "more futureproof" than a single core.

I never said they dont run good with games, most of them run the same as a single core cpu but your just spending more money on a dual core for no boost in performance. They maybe "futureproof" but they wont be for awhile i see no games coming out yet that utalize a second core yet so it wont come in handy for a little while longer.

de fuzon u dont know nothing either.
pentiums do 5IPC while athlon 64's do 12IPC but, intels are crappy cause as u see they will need a clock speed alot higher to do same or less then the athlon's performance. plus theyre 64 bits ..even faster... intel s.... big time.

edit: intels overclock more, cause they need more to get to amd's performance. a 200mhz amd overclock will need a 600mhz+ intel overclock to be the same.

edit .. ^^ dumbass, with the X2's that are out now, amd beats intel in everything, even media editing and that stuff.
