aww come on, get involved, you seem knowledgable about the bible, Id like to hear what you have to say
Well your so called creator was such a good creator as the sun will explode on us sooner or later and our solar system is on a crash crouse with another one.Which means evey dies yeah....... Also by the way were going we are going to eventually really mess up the worlds system. And the green house effect will be the one that messes up everything as it will melt the ice capes and the it would have some profound affect of killing about atleast half of the people on earth. Not so sure about the crash though.
There are a lot of valid points in this thread.... glad to see it hasn't become an uncivilized flame-fest. ^.^ I am a religious person, therefore I believe in creation. The way I see it, God always "was", and he created all that is around us. In the 7 days that passed while he was creating the expanse, I believe billions of years passed. That must just be God's timeframe. As for evolution, I think that humans DID evolve from a lesser developed lifeform, and this lifeform was also created by God. Same with the dinosaurs... the animals that we know today were originally huge reptiles that have adapted and evolved. There is scientific evidence to both of these claims, such as fossils. Well, that's my take. ^.^ @flop and BlueJew: I think our eventual extermination is merely a result of our sins. We're creating our own demise, and God is going to let this happen as a kind of "judgement". One thing I can't quite grasp... I do believe in other lifeforms. The universe is just too enormous to not hold other beings (IMO). So, would these other lifeforms believe and worship the same God as I, or would they not have that curiosity to look into such a matter?
God said he would destroy the earth a second time. Also who tells you the sun will explode one day? Scientists, right? Do they know? Are they 100%, positive this will happen? No. They're not.
Looks good. I believe in something liek that for the most part. To write out my theory would take too long and I'd prolly run out of space so I won;t bother you with it
The sun won't burn forever.... Even if it doesn't explode it won't give off heat thus killing us off. LINK: http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/mar98...80585.As.r.html
no one is truly sure of anything, I personally have developed the idea that most scientists arent in opposition to religion, they are rather interpreters of concepts. Im not sure about the sun and earth concept, if the earth were ever to go out of its rotational axis, then perhaps it could collide with the sun, but we would all be dead long before that, wolf is right, our world is in very particular circumstances, and if these were to even change in the least our existence would likely end.
Yeah, that's a theory. They don't know that. What if that's God's way of destroying the earth a second time? Also, let me tell you, most scientists are not creationists.
I understand that concept, however, if that were to occur, which is possible but not absolute, then the real question is when? we have existed this long without the destruction of our being, so under what circumstances would this happen?
Look at the world today. The world is a pretty messed up place. I don't know why God wants to destroy the world again, I don't know all the answers and never will.
Ahh Im glad you said that bit about god wanting to kill us, I feel that god doesnt WANT to kill us, I mean why would we be created and do his bidding if he wished us to go out of existence? I feel that somethings even the powers of god cant prevent, for instance death, if god were able to prevent death, then why would he not choose to keep the apostles alive and those promoting his wishes? hard to explain that idea
Been in so many debates when I hate debating unless I'm face to face with the person and we're actually interested in what the other says (and I'm always interested in what the other person says as long as they listen to my part too, otherwise it's just them trying to change me). I'll just say what the Bible says the clear things up, I don't really feel like getting all scientific right now Ok, evolution: macro evolution, yes, that's real (same species but it evolves, like dog breeds). micro evolution, no, that's unbiblical. Earth won't be destroyed a second time, it will be restored. It's the New Earth that revelation speaks about. There will be a new jeruselem (so many cubits or whatever high, yay wide, and so forth, and yes, it gives the dimensions). The New Jeruselem will be even better than Heaven and will be our true home. That's what the Bible says. Why bad stuff happens on earth? Our sin, as stated earlier. A good father punishes his child, and God punishes us. That's the part about God restoring everything, healing the land and all that good stuff. The Earth won't be destroyed, just wiped clean and started anew. Now, I'll admit, revelation isn't exactly the easiest book to understand (and I have little understanding of it myself) so I'm probably not the best person to talk about all this, but there are several things that I remember for certain, which is what I stated. I can also tell you that when the plagues hit things will really suck, lol, that's profound, huh? Anyway, there you go. Now you know some of the Christian stuff on this, although by the time I hit the post button this will probably be behind the times, lol oh yeah, and when God restores everything to what it was meant to be, only cooler, there won't be any death either, and we won't need to star to keep us warm either. I'll bet that God's glory is enough to light the entire universe ^_^
