Ok, so I thought I would go ahead and whip up the first of a series that I'm starting on c4d tutorials. This video will show you how to load materials, images into the materials, and adjust the settings to give it a metallic effect. I didn't record with voice this time, as I am currently troubleshooting some issues with my vid card, or monitor. Haven't isolated the problem. I think it only effects the editing so it is a bit rough around the edges so to speak.

To find HDRI image maps that I used in the materials... Search DevArt for "HDRI" then look through the pages for little orbs. It's not too hard to find them.

This video is up for free until my old GR hosting runs out. Here's to hoping as many of you can enjoy it as possible. :D

Here is an example of the final outcome. ;)

hmm, very intersting way of how you use your hdri maps

the pack that i sent you, what I do, i make a sky (objects-->scene-->sky?) and i applie the hdri maps to that...

i like your way better, so that when i cut it off with the alpha layer, i don't the occasional white outline from the sky object, thanks +rep!

edit: lol, shouldnt this be in the 3d section?

So heres what I think of this tutorial! Despite the fact that theres no sound, its actually really easy to follow whats being done. The only part I got a bit lost, was at the very end, after you applied the material, you did something that I must have missed, that caused it to change from green, to blue to a more metallic looking dark green, what was that?

Oh and as a side note, you may not want to make the video size so large..even on my 20 inch monitor at a 1024.768 setting it wouldnt fit on my screen unless I went into full screen mode.

Most media players should play avi. You may need to download a tscc coded though. Just google it. ;)

Yup... just tscc or tscc codec. ;)

and sorry... to answer your question Logic...

In the environments tab, I switched the mix mode to add and then dropped the brightness of the blue coloring at the top of the environments tab to like 6%.
