Ok. I'm sick of hearing "turn off your computer, if you're not using it, you're wasting electricity" and "the electric bill went up this month"

Grrr, if your mother tries to save every penny, you'd be hearing this too.

I want to put my computer on Solar Power so I can have it on 24/7, without costing my mom a penny. well, it may have to cost her a bit to get the pannels, but after that I should be ok.

do you know any sites or shops around the Chicago, Illinois area? I live in southern Wisconsin, so Chicago isn't too far away...

I just want to be able to have my computer on 24/7 for downloading (no warez), and other things. I just dont want to worry about it anymore...

I would like a complete kit, not just the pannel.

Post only if you know what you're talking about please..

    cheap alternative:
20 gerballs, and wheels, and hook it up to a generator
    gerball+wheel+steroids=free energy

What would happen on a cloudy day(s) or at night, or on days that aren't windy. You would need to have a good battery.

Heres one you can build yourself.

or one for a steal of $2,959,00.

How many hours of power you save would it take to total $2,959 though? You're computer probably doesn't use that much in watts a day lol.

Just tell your mom to pipe down or give her 5 bucks for draining the world's power plants with your computer.

Haha that's pretty ghetto, but cool.

Doesn't provide enough energy at a computer's voltage though. Especially considering the weight and size.

Can it be charged and used at the same time? Maybe it'll work better with a better panel/battery. =P

I could just take the connectors for hdd led and power led off..

I also do have a front door on my case, maybe that can hide the water cooling lcd.. also i could lock the front door as well ;P but then she could easily disconnect the power cord...

is there any way to glue it on? lol

well, once i get out of College and get a job, I'm getting an apartment..
