Okay well we have wireless DSL. Meaning we have a router and DSL. My moms laptop is connected to it but I can't get mine connected. Even with the network key I can't use the internet. Any suggestions on How I can make the router acknowledge my laptop? It takes forever to connect to the router and when it connects it says limited or no connectivity. Please help.

Make sure that your wireless card works with your router. I had the same problem with my comp and it wouldnt pick it up but it turned out i had a wireless card that didnt work with the router(sorry if this wasnt what you were asking)

Oh it works. I know. I just need the router to recognize my computer. It was recognized before, but my dad took it off for the fact that I was going to college.

    Check your IP settings

    go to "My Computer"
    then "Network Connections"
then click on your icon under "LAN or High Speed Internet"
    Click "Properties"

Look at the second scroll down box and scroll to TCP/IP
    Click it then click "Properties"

make sure its set to obtain an IP automatically and Obtain a DNS automatically

    Hope this helps

Yeah they are set to that. And it doesn't connect.

Basically, I think I need to know how to add a computer to my network.

First, give us the make & model of the router. Next we need to get into the router & see the maximum number of DHCP Users are allowed to access the router. Then we could proceed & fix the problem.

Another thing to try would be to plug directly into the modem. Power cycle it. And see if you can access the net. If you can, shut it down, connect modem to router. Then boot up your laptop, log into router. And make sure the the set up is right. Pretty sure it's something simple.
