I've never tried to get around filters before, luckily when i was in high school- i didn't have to worry about this stuff. You may try some of the following:
    - getting a flashdrive and using firefox. Most school districts are way out of the date; so i'm willing to bet a majority of their filters are on IE. Using any alternative browser should work decent. I use a flash drive for work when my labtop is dead; they are usually no more then $75 USD max, and that would be a very nice gig worth of space. A cheap 128 MB one would be $20 USD or less.
    - go to yahoo, search for the site in question, and click search. When you find the link you want, right click on the link and go to Copy Shortcut; paste it into your browser window. Small little nifty trick.
    - start --> run --> ftp ;) Use it to install games, or what not. If you have a gigantic network of computers at your school, i suggest you try WINCHAT. start --> run --> winchat. Its a small little computer-to-computer IM chat that is very fun to play with :) May take a bit to get use to, and find a computer...but once you get the hang of it, its quite nice.

I'm willing to bet they just block by 'domain name' alone. So for example; if you bought a domain name for a school class, with the word 'game' in it- they might not let you see it.

Install anything? You might not be allowed to install on parts of the server, but don't you have a 'section' where you can store your school files, etc?

I could access all of the sites at my school. My school doesn't have any filters or anything, so i don't know how much it means. But I did try it! I go to a private school in Menlo Park, CA.
