    when you use a proxy, you effectively use another machine to access the web and then you receive info through it. so insteed of accessing porn.com you are accessing someone elses computer which sends you the info from porn.com. also porn.com views the prxy server as the comp getting the info, not yours.

    just curious though, are you deaf?

    I've never tried to get around filters before, luckily when i was in high school- i didn't have to worry about this stuff. You may try some of the following:
    - getting a flashdrive and using firefox. Most school districts are way out of the date; so i'm willing to bet a majority of their filters are on IE. Using any alternative browser should work decent. I use a flash drive for work when my labtop is dead; they are usually no more then $75 USD max, and that would be a very nice gig worth of space. A cheap 128 MB one would be $20 USD or less.
    - go to yahoo, search for the site in question, and click search. When you find the link you want, right click on the link and go to Copy Shortcut; paste it into your browser window. Small little nifty trick.
    - start --> run --> ftp Use it to install games, or what not. If you have a gigantic network of computers at your school, i suggest you try WINCHAT. start --> run --> winchat. Its a small little computer-to-computer IM chat that is very fun to play with May take a bit to get use to, and find a computer...but once you get the hang of it, its quite nice.

    I'm willing to bet they just block by 'domain name' alone. So for example; if you bought a domain name for a school class, with the word 'game' in it- they might not let you see it.

    Hey i found a way that works on anything thats not IE (sadly our school has IE so this wont work) but ok heres what u do:

    1. find the ip adress of the site (go to www.netcraft.com and type in the website)
    2. open windows calculator ( start --> accesories --> calculator)
    3. Go to view --> scientific
    4. Ok now here is the fun part. alright for an example ill use the online game runescape. (www.runescape.com) ok first what you do is find the Ip address by your on way or by going to netcraft.com and entering the site. If you did this you should get the ip 64.37.71.203.
    5. For this step you will probably need a piece of paper to write everything down. Now remember when we changed the view to scientific? well click on the thing that says bin to change the ip to binary form. now what you do is enter the numbers before each decimal point into the decimal calculator then click on the binary icon and it will show a bunch of binary numbers. Now I'll show you an example. ok well first you put just the 64 into the decimal calculator and then click on the binary icon. It will now show this: 1000000. That is the binary equivalent for 64. Now if you do that for all the numbers you will come up with these:

    64=1000000
    37=100101
    71=1000111
    203=11001011

    6. Ok if you've gotten this far then you're pretty much set. now make sure the calculator is on binary and you enter all the binary codes in order of the numbers in the ip address. so you would enter 1000000100101100011111001011 in the binary calculator. then click on the decimal icon and it should show a bunch of random numbers. For this it will be 135448523.

    7. here is what you do with these seemingly random numbers. In the address bar type in http://(the random numbers) or in this case 135448523. This will load the web page easy =).

    IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER: Will not work with Internet explorer! Who knows why but the filters on ie prevent this from working.

    Or you can always get the ip of the site and just type it in that way... I can view about 80% of the sites like that. Or you can always get the admin user profile and pass. And delete the registry keys that use whatever blocker you're useing. I wont tell you how. Just do some research on your own.

    Or.... install firefox or opera on your My Documents. They sometimes allow you to install on your docs but not c:\ drive. And use a proxy ip. Or if you can install a browser. Look up Portable Firefox and install it to a Flash drive
