Extend the life of your system? are you crazy or something?

Sure if you mean in the way that you won't need to buy a new part to handle that new game you wont.

But overclocking your processor or graphic card is not good for it.
Sure if you got a good cooling (wich is a must to overclock something) you might not fry your components but that by the love of god doesn't mean it's healthy for it.

you in the end it doesnt realy matter what is good for it, if it cant run the game you want to play, or you really want a higher resolution, you have but 2 choices, one of course to upgrade, and the other to overclock, at least long enough for a price cut

yeah...i gotta AIW 9600 pro and its engine clock is 398 MHz and the mem clock is 324...i Overclocked those by like 10 MHz each...and picked up 10 FPS in DoD:S...so it is worth it i guess...but only for a short about of time...cuz once i was done i set it back too default...so as not too damage the board

its upposed ot make your parts run at a higher speed, but it also heats it up more, thus reducing its lifetime, btw, it also viods ur warranty.

    how OCing makes it cheaper...

you have a crappy computer you can barely stand and you have the cash for a new one. insteed of just buying a new one, you can crank up your old one. a 30% OC to the proc % a 15% OC to the ram will make a diference as well. Sure your parts may get damaged, but by the time you are doing this you don't care a ton about them.
