The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less. We buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses, but smaller families. We have more conveniences, but less time. We have more education, but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts, yet more problems; more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, SMOKE TOO MUCH, and spend too recklessly. We laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have implied our positions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life but not life to years. We've been to the moon and back, but have trouble going across the street to meet the new neighbors. We've conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted our soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We create more computers to store more, to produce more copies, but we communicate less and less. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorces, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw away morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. Remember to spend more time with family, because there not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because there soon going to grow up and leave your side. Remember, give a hug to the person next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give without costing a cent. Remember to say "I love you", but mean it. A kiss and embrace will mend hurt when it comes deep inside you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak, and give time to share the thoughts in your mind. AND REMEMBER: Life is not measured buy the numbers of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away.
Did you write that to open our minds or just to rant about how people in this world don't appreciate what they've got? I couldn't be bothered to read anymore than the first paragraph. I've heard it plenty of times before. I just happen to be enjoying the fruits of life right now, so I don't care about everyone else. If they don't appreciate what they have, they'll learn over time that it can all be taken away in an instant (Hurricane Katrina, Rita, Iraq, etc.).
I dont understand what you are getting at however. It reflect our average everyday life, but what where you getting at? To me there wasnt really a point, but it does reflect life. Although, i guess for "General Discussion" you dont need to be talking about something in particular At any rate, your post represents all the negativity in life. Id like to also point out that negativity is all we are getting. If a couple gets married, its hardly gona be in the news. But if a man falls off a bridge, or cuts himself by accident and bleeds to death, thats all we will be seing on the news for the next week. That meens, that even though you are trying to tell us we are bad, and do not appreciate life, you are also the same as us. You beleive bad is more important to talk about then good stuff. If you where really good hearted, i really dont think you would post this. Dont talk only to talk (even though i do :S, i know i shouldnt) unless its something positive. I think life should be possitive, not negative, or a represent of negativity.
So you're saying we've been desensitized and we wouldn't know a good thing if is shot us in the face? No sense in ranting about it.
This is Mr. Cheeky Wow, did you write all that yourself? Amazing read and it seems very insightful and philosophical. Great to read while high, really got me thinking.
+rep. More people need to think like that...Unfortunately, they won't because they can't stop thinking about themselves.
