i hate the iPod's small a** battery time. I mean 18 hours is toooo low. Anyway im using the iPod mini so mayb thats different. but look at the new sony mp3 player...even if it holds 1gb .the charging time is amazing. u charge it for 3minz and it plays for 3 HOURS!!!
i prefer ipods, my mate has an iriver, and i think their too brick like.in looks ipod is better and i like it more. havn't ever listened to an irvier though.
The I River series has much better engineering..this is what i've already posted on other forums i frequent...
I actualy have been doing some work for iRiver for the prototype designs for the upcoming media player. (ill post what I can ) It looks very nice indeed. I am not too sure about the features though...I dont have anything to do with that side of things...But from what I hear, it is basicly a palm PC complete with windows XP aswell as windows media components. It can play video, mp3...etc.. it has image storage, games...lots more...As for space, I'm not sure...
It is all marketing strategies. They just want to have something look cool and have a function so people will buy it. Given the choice if you were offered a free ipod nano or iriver i would take the nano, but the best buy is the iriver unless you just want a cool looking mp3 player. The nano is not going to break in half unless you are 300 pounds + and put the thing in your back pocket.
Marketwise the everyone knows the iPod, I myself have heard of an iRiver like once or twice and it did seem pretty good. I have a Creative myself just because Creative is the hottest thing on the market right now. Now see it all comes down to you priorities, if you want more space, if you like small mp3 players, etc etc. I'd personally say an iRiver though.

But the facts still stand that Apple doesn't give a rat's ass about the quality of their players, but rather how physically appealing they are to a your average wanna-be-trendy high school gullibles. As a senior aspiring a future as an engineer, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the quality of the product for the amount of money demanded from the consumer is important to me. I personally find it appauling that those people can sleep at night all the while referring to themselves as an architect of innovation, technology, and efficiency.
woah a palm pc in a mp3 player. I wish iRiver would catch up because before they were leading the industry and now its kind of sad with what they came up with this year. Hopefully this mp3 player looks like the H3xx or a U10 cause I like having buttons.
