alright, i have a theme for windows in the "Windows Visual Style" format.

it came with the file itself, and a folder called shell.

the directions said to place it in the "C:/WINDOWS/Resources" location, and I did. i am about to try restarting and double clicking the WVS file seemed to do nothing.

any help is appreciated and will not go forgotten *wink*

right click your desktop, choose properties. On the themes tab, look for the theme you just installed or browse to the folder you have it in and select it.

    Should work.

i'm sorry, i think you misunderstood me.

it is a visual style, and when I navigate to where the file is, it does not show up because it is blocked by the filter...

    anyone else help?

does it have the extension of .msstyle or .theme? put it in \resources\theme folder, not just \resources.

Then go to Desktop Properties, go to the appearance tab, and the first dropdown that says 'Windows XP' or something, click it, and you should see your new one in the list...

hmm, it might have a problem with XP SP2, I am having the same problem, and I did do it many times before.

just wondering though... did you do the uxtheme.dll trick (I guess you did, but did not specify)
