Okay, so I was bored, and I decided to compile a list of keyboard commands you can use to speed up surfing the web and getting the most out of your browser.

    Back = Backspace
Use this to return to the last page you viewed.

    Ctrl+f = Find
Use this to search for keywords on a webpage.

    Ctrl+o = Open
Access the address bar for internet url's or file paths with ease.

    Ctrl+r (or f5) = Refresh
Use this to see if the current page has been updated since you last loaded it.

Ctrl+p = Print (works for other programs also)
Print the current web page, or project.

    Ctrl+Shift+Arrow keys
Use to highlight contiguous portions of text. Must be at beginning or end to work properly. Can also use "home" or "end" keys for entire lines at a time. ;)

Ctrl+c = Copy to Clipboard (works for other programs also)
Use this to copy highlighted text into system memory for easy pasting

Ctrl+v = Paste (works for other programs also)
    Paste text from the clipboard.

    Print Screen = Screenshot
Captures the entire screen to the clipboard. Open paint or photoshop and paste in a new document to view whatever it is you screenshot anytime you want.

Alt+f4 = Close the Application (Browser in this case, works for other programs also)

    Alt+tab = Switch
    Switches between open applications.

Added by .Lost I added descriptions of each though. :)
    ctrl+h = history
View a list of previously visited web pages.

ctrl+d = bookmark/fav, i think this goes for IE and FF?
    Open your favorites/bookmarks.

    F1 Help
Access the help feature of your browser. (Works in most programs, not just browsers)

    strl+s = save page
Don't know that I would use this in a web environment, but ok.

    ctrl+a = select all
Pretty obvious, highlights all page content

ctrl+u = view source (really helpful)
View the coding for the webpage

F11 = full screen (good for low res. and flash games )
Maximize your viewable screen size in the browser

    Added by Chadwick
If you press F6 then it will highlight the address, so you don't have to move yoru mouse and highlight it or whatever. Just F6 and type it in.

Added by .toxic. I added descriptions of each though. :)
    Ctrl+n = New Window
Save you the trouble of losing your page by opening a new one for browsing.

    Added by Zelink
    new tab : ctrl+t
    close current tab: Ctrl+w
next tab: ctrl + tab or Ctrl + page up
tab before : ctrl + pagedown
    Change text size ctrl+ + ;ctrl + -; ctrl+scroll wheel
most of the work in both mozilla and opera, i will try them out on IE7 in a bit...

another shortcut if you have the proper FF extension is rightclicking and using the scroll wheel to access history, scrolling up accessback(then scroll for proper location) scrolling down is for going back and works similarly. also rapidly clicking right then left, and vice versa for forward/backward.

    ctrl+enter adds .com to address
    and in FF:
    Shift+Enter adds .net to address.
    Ctrl+Shift+Enter adds .org to address

If you know of any that haven't been listed, please say so... and I will add them. We've got a nice little list now, anyone else know more?

was that mentally bored or physically bored?

    umm, also...

If you have those extra left and right buttons on your mouse, on the very left and right side of your mouse, in Opera and Fx, you can press those and it will go back or forwards..

That works in IE as well. The one on the left will make you go Back (same effect as backbutton or backspace) and the one on the right will make you go Forward ^_^

    ----

Also, in Avant Browser, if you hold down the right button and press the left one you will go back, and if you hold down the left button and click right you will go forward. And by button I mean the MAIN MOUSE buttons not the side ones.

It was a little of both really... that and the damn insomnia. <_<

Anyhow, I was talking mainly about ones that anyone could use without having to bother with the mouse.

Also, zelink I added yours. Add they reminded of another that no one has mentioned.... Alt+tab switches applications.

Seriously? I never knew that

Also, 4nubis the alt+tab thing is more of a windows hotkey in general rather than a browser one, don't ya think?
