Ok, since alot of people end up rendering onto white backrounds, thus wasting alot of time, here is a simple step by step to creating a Transparent Backround.
    • Get the image you want to render.
    • Select it all [CTRL + A].
    • Copy the image [CTRL + C].
    • File > New.
    • Select the "Transparent" circle at the bottom.
    • Click OK.
    • Paste your image into the new document. [CTRL + V]
    • Render the image as normal.
    • Save it as a .PNG or .GIF [these filetypes allow transparency]
    • Upload your image and post it!
Thanks to B A L L E R CX for the inspiration to post this, and to the staff for giving me this job today.

I hope this helped you guys, tell me if anything needs to be changed.

    +Rep/Creds if you please.

    Later.

    Second version, by ShneakySquirrel

    1. Open Image
    2. Select the layer and press ctrl+j
    3. Delete the original layer
    4. Create a new layer and move it below the render layer
    5. Fill it with a dark color
    6. Render the image
    7. Delete the filled layer

lol, that tutorial can really help some people. The best way to do it for your own image(if you're using Photoshop) is to just select Transparent when you make a new image.

I have a question...If someone saves an image as anything other than a .png or .gif, whats the best way to get the background transparent without re-rendering it yourself?

like if its a .bmp jpeg or whatever else.

Well if you're not planning on making the render pop-out, you could set it to Screen or Color Dodge if the background is black or white. Of course, that may create some errors in the render itself.
