first off, specs/make/model Dell XPS (gen 1) 3.4 Ghz p4 1 gig ddr ram radeon 9800 mobility the rig was being a slow piece of ----, so I reformatted. When I tried to install the drivers the vid card drivers didn't work properly. Somethin about "you dont have the proper hardware for this piece of software" I was like wtf, its on the disk, its fine. But noooo, they put on 9700 vid card drivers, I have a 9800, ----in idiot dell people. So I download some 9800 drivers, all sorts of ati software, nothin works. The whole problem is the ----in resolution! its stuck on normall resolution with no widescreen settings (my laptop is a widescreen) I finally figured out the problem, just not the solution. The video card is not even being read, in settings instead of "plug in play radeon 9800 mobility blah blah blah" its "default monitor on" WTF?!?!? will I have to open this thing up? Any ideas on how to fix a laptop, plz help! MSN - [email protected] AIM - sephiroth10096 yes I have multiple comps, any downloads or anything is not a prob, laptop is just broken right now. grrr...
Are you sure your gfx card is connected correctly? if so i suggest contacting dell / ati ... i have a dell and i have a driver cd, and i jsut pop it in, nad for every driver i need to install it has check marks for, so i never have a problem reformatting my comp
it should be connected fine, I may need to reconnect it though. I dumped some water on my laptop before (this thing has taken quite a beating, not to worried lol) and I had to reconnect the ram to get it to stop erroring it. I have no idea how it survived that one lol, this is much less off a problem, least it boots up.
