Hey guys I followed the thread up above (GUI Skinning). These may or may not have been covered in there, but I had a couple of questions:

The text on my icons is somewhat highlighted around the letters. Any way to make it transparent? You can see it clearly in the picture below.

I've attached an image to show my problem. I used the http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112891 method.

Question 2: I was wondering how to change the way stuff on the desktop looks, like the trashcan or the my computer? I see some people with trashcans that are different from the default one. Is there any way to do this? Thanks

    1. right click on desktop->arrange icons->unclick lock web items on desktop

    2. with WindowsBlinds or StyleXP, it messes with a shell itwem that changes the appearance.

For the first one, I'm pretty sure it's in the Desktop properties somewhre. For the second, look for the icons, and when you find the ones you want, irght click the shortcut you want to change, and browse for the image...

when your setting your background , there should be an option where you can change a color, that color will be the one that surrounds the icons.

Go onto Display Properties > Themes > Select Windows XP Theme (the original one) then go onto desktop > change the wallpaper you got on now and it should be transparent once applied

AND ALSO - what xmaster said that will work 2

Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it.

For the first question I tried xmaster's method and it did not work. Even when I apply windows xp theme, the blue background on the icon text is still there. I want it gone!

For the 2nd question, I found out how to do it.
Right click desktop, go to Desktop>Customize Desktop>Change Icon. For whatever icon you wish to change. You do need however to use icon files, and I haven't found a way to make it so that it takes .jpeg or .png. If i find a place with icon files ill let you guys know.
