i think it would be nice because the ----ing mods usually close the ----ing topics. Usually The General Discussion forum is putting an opinion in. So i dont think its right. So yeah a debate forum would be nice. Would also eliminate SO CALLED "SPAM" to moderators... blah w/e

    Oh my yes :)

I find debate to almost be a process of self discovery. For instance, I may not know where I stand on an issue until I it is brought to my attention and I have to think about it. It fine tunes our thoughts and our thought processes. I love it when someone brings up an excellent point in which it changes my whole perspective. If approached in the right way, everyone, winners and the losers, walk away feeling refreshed. So, I absolutely support this sub-forum if it were to be approved.

It's been brought up before, but many GR members continually prove themselves to be extremely immature and closed-mind about almost anything. So, until the ambient maturity level increases, I don't think anything will happen.

As long as it were in a protected forum in which only certain users who abide to certain rules would be allowed to debate, I can't see the consequences.

debate forums are hard to keep up. especially with such an immature population at GR. At another forum im at (a paintball one) its a more mature atmosphere and we can carry a debate for maybe 10 pages before some idiot starts flaming.

Well I think the most anybody can do is make the rules, and enforce them strictly. By doing this, we won't let a few immature individuals ruin it for the rest of us who find a certain thrill in debating. What would it take to convice the staff at GR to put up a sub-forum dedicated to debating?

Lol, that is how it goes most of the time. All the great thinks of our time and of the past have said what you just said in some way, shape or form. GR is like any other society, in which the intellectual few are ridiculed by the igorant majority.

Because they're jeleous that we can think without insulting, and can carry on a serious conversation without insults.

Do we need to make a petition? Come to you with a plan? Must we continue to fill up Gen Discussion with multiple threads for debate?
