In this tutorial I will show you how to adjust certain portions of your render using some image adjustments and a little trick for manipulating those adjustments. So, I made this render, and was unhappy with the dark portion in the center. Occasionally when making renders using c4d, they do not appear exactly as they are saved. So, I'm going to show you how to go from this to something a little more aesthetically pleasing. Ok, so first off go create a bg layer so you can see what you're actually working with; I went with the color of this site (#27323B) because it shows the contrast of both light and dark colors very nicely. Next, go to image adjustments --> Brightness/contrast as I've used here, or whatever particular adjustment you need. I went with this to bring out the dark coloring to something a little more visible. But wait... the lighter portions of the original render are way too bright now. No problem, whip out the default circle brush with enough coverage to cross the render without hitting unwanted pieces. I used around a 20px brush for this job. Smaller in some places. Now, using a black foreground, brush over all the places you want to remain in their original condition. You can be as sloppy as you want except for directly touching the pieces you wanted adjusted in the first place. This is what my brightness/contrast layer looked like after editing the mask with the black brush. I got really sloppy, as you can tell. All except the nasty dark places I wanted to fix. Finally all you have to do now is hide the bottom bg layer, and merge the brightness/contrast layer with the render layer itself. and you will end up with something like this. See how much better this looks that the original. ^_^ If you like the render itself... be looking for the full scale 1280X1024 version in my 6th c4d render pack available in my shop coming soon. ^_^
Thanks for the comments guys. I thought this would have come in handy for more than just two people though.

 The last picture there is the original. The one right before it is the edited one. Notice the lighter center part now, you can actually see it against a dark bg where you couldn't before.
