What are the advantages/disadvatanges to reformatting my computer? My computer is alot slower than it was when i bought it....Will it make my computer faster?

Another thing, will doing this delete PhotoshopCS? I bought it legally, but dont want to go through the trouble of re-activating it.

Reformating deleted everything ont he drive, everything would be erased. So, if your gonna do it, back some stuff up on a few discs first.

Disadvantages - You Lose EVERYTHING when you reformat.
Advantages - If you have a annoying virus that you've tried to remove in every possible way and it doesn't seem to disspear, then reformatting will get rid of it for sure..unless it's on a different drive.

Yea my friend reformats like every week just for fun once he reformatted three times in one day. He does it just to do it cuase he likes watch the bar fill up or something but I do it only when I know my computer is jacked up really bad then I put everything I need on an external hard drive and reformat. Definately helps.

it came with an activation code and some other code....Once you activate it, the activation code is changed. If it is un-installed, i would need to get a new activation code, and thats just too much trouble to go through to get it through the phone and whatnot...

    Move everything on another Drive.

Reformat on C since thats the main WINDOWS drive so you wont lose anything on the other drive

Exactly make another partition using Partion Magic (last time i used it was version 8 might of updated by now) make a new partion ( depending on the size of your hard drive) and only copy over the things you really wanna keep, then format and once reinstalled operating system just copy over the files. I have no problems with my SATA hdd formats in 4 seconds reinstalls windows in about 4 mins. I have 4 partitions C:\ = Windows D:\ = Downloads E:\ = Gaming and Applications F:\ = Recovery :) all smart and done so i dont have to do ---- when i wanna format :D

if you use the system recovery disks that came with your computer you will not lose the programs that came with your computer. So you won't nessicarily lose them. If you pop in your xp disk and format that way then you will.
