Doctor Sued for Using Sex as Treatment

An Oregon woman is suing her doctor for treating her back pain with sexual intercourse, according to Yahoo! News. A $4 million lawsuit was filed against Randall Smith, who billed Oregon Health Plan $5000 for 45 minute sessions with the woman in which he administered "treatment" in the form of sexual intercourse. Smith, who convinced the woman that having sex with him would "help alleviate her lower back and lower extremity pain", was stripped of his medical license last year and sent to jail for sixty days following the incident. The lawsuit, filed in Multnomah County court this week, cited intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Smith pleaded guilty to submitting false health care claims but was adamant that the sex with his patient was consensual.

    Turn Grandma Into Jewlery!

Everyone said she was a gem. Now, just eight ounces of cremated remains is all it takes to turn your grandmother into a diamond! In fact, there's enough carbon in those ashes to make about 20 gems. And there will still be several pounds of ashes left over to display on the mantelpiece.

"It's not for everyone," VandenBiesen admitted, adding that for those who do chose to immortalize their loved ones in jewelry, the experience is extremely positive.

    World of Warcraft Is Spyware!

This software is known as the 'warden client'. It is downloaded on the fly from Blizzard's servers, and it runs about every 15 seconds and is designed to verify compliance with a EULA/TOS.

Here is what it does, about every 15 seconds, to about 4.5 million people (500,000 of which are logged on at any given time). The warden dumps all the DLL's using a ToolHelp API call. It reads information from every DLL loaded in the 'world of warcraft' executable process space. No big deal.

The warden then uses the GetWindowTextA function to read the window text in the titlebar of every window. These are windows that are not in the WoW process, but any program running on your computer. Now a Big Deal.

I watched the warden sniff down the email addresses of people I was communicating with on MSN, the URL of several websites that I had open at the time, and the names of all my running programs, including those that were minimized or in the toolbar. These strings can easily contain social security numbers or credit card numbers, for example, if I have Microsoft Excel or Quickbooks open w/ my personal finances at the time.

From all this info Blizzard decides to ban you ... or not. For example, if you have a window titled 'WoW!Inmate' - regardless of what that window really does, it could result in a ban. If you can't believe it, make a dummy window that does nothing at all and name it this, then start WoW. It certainly will result in warden reporting you as a cheater.

Woman Booted Off Plane For T-shirt

A Washington state woman intends to press a civil-rights case against Southwest Airlines for booting her off a flight in Reno after fellow passengers complained about a message on her T-shirt.

Lorrie Heasley was halfway home on a flight Tuesday that began in Los Angeles, wearing a T-shirt with the pictures of President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and a phrase similar to the popular film, "Meet the Fockers."

Heasley said she wore the T-shirt as a gag. She wanted her parents, who are Democrats, to see it when they picked her up at the airport in Portland, Ore. "I just thought it was hilarious," said Heasley, 32, a lumber saleswoman. And she felt she had the right to wear it.

"I have cousins in Iraq and other relatives going to war," she said. "Here we are trying to free another country and I have to get off an airplane in midflight over a T-shirt. That's not freedom."

Southwest Airlines spokeswoman Marilee McInnis said the T-shirt became an issue after several passengers complained. She said the airline's contract filed with the Federal Aviation Administration contains rules on passenger conduct.

Heasley said no one from Southwest said anything about the shirt when she waited two hours near the gate at Los Angeles International Airport. And neither the pilot, nor other crew members, said anything when she boarded the aircraft, Heasley added.

After the plane stopped in Reno at noon Tuesday, she and her husband, Ron, moved to the front of the plane. Passengers began complaining about the T-shirt as they boarded. After several conversations with flight attendants, Heasley agreed to cover the words by cuddling up with a sweatshirt. When the sweatshirt slipped while she was trying to sleep, she was ordered to wear her T-shirt inside-out or leave. The couple chose to leave.

Allen Lichtenstein, lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union in Nevada, said Heasley's T-shirt is "protected" political speech under the Constitution. The real issue, he said, is that the airline allowed her to wear the shirt onboard and then objected only when people complained.

Heasley said she is in touch with ACLU lawyers in Seattle. She wants Southwest to reimburse the couple for the last leg of their trip and pay for her gasoline, a $68 rental car from Avis and a $70 hotel bill.

Before leaving the plane, she said she was told the airline would reimburse her for the tickets for the last leg of the flight. After they got off the plane, they were told they'd be reimbursed only for the taxes on the tickets. After fighting over the ticket prices, the couple got a hotel room in Reno, rented a car and got home Wednesday afternoon -- about 24 hours after they left the plane.

"I have always flown Southwest everywhere I go," Heasley said. "I will never fly with them again. They can disrespect somebody else."

Python Bursts After Trying to Eat Gator

A 13-foot Burmese python recently burst after it apparently tried to swallow a live, six-foot alligator whole, authorities said.

The gory evidence of the latest gator-python encounter — the fourth documented in the past three years — was discovered and photographed last week by a helicopter pilot and wildlife researcher.

The snake was found with the gator's hindquarters protruding from its midsection. Mazzotti said the alligator may have clawed at the python's stomach as the snake tried to digest it.

In previous incidents, the alligator won or the battle was an apparent draw.

Homer Simpson Makes Men of the Decade list

From Homer Simpson to Bob Geldof, 10 famous males have been named the Men of the Decade.

TV chef Jamie Oliver, England manager Sven Goran Eriksson and cyclist Lance Armstrong are included on the list, as are writer Ian McEwan and Blur singer Damon Albarn. The Top 10 was compiled by a panel of experts for magazine Men's Health to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Each man represents a different area of expertise, including sport, music and design.

Designer Sir Paul Smith, iPod creator Jonathan Ive and geneticist Craig Venter complete the list.

"These are people of real substance and solid achievement rather than temporary fame," said Men's Health editor Morgan Rees. "The people on our list have used their talents to change the world around them, rather than just to draw attention to themselves. We were particularly pleased to see Homer Simpson on the list. He has taught a whole generation how to take on the challenge of modern fatherhood and win - although not always with honour."

The November issue of Men's Health is out now.

EDIT - HAD TO ADD THIS LAST ONE I JUST FOUND

    Penis Costume Considered Sexual Harassment

The parents of 14-year-old James Watkins agree he deserves school discipline for wearing a penis costume outside a dance at Steilacoom High School [Washington]. But they want a "sexual harassment" note dropped from his school record.

The Pioneer Middle School eighth grader and his parents agree the prank Saturday was wrong, but they say he did not sexually harass anyone.

He was suspended for three days and his father Mark says the notice says it was for "sexual harassment, misbehavior at school-sponsored event, disruptive conduct and dress and appearance."

James Watkins says he was just trying to be funny, and others were laughing and having their picture taken with him. He complied when teachers asked him to take off the costume.
