k i think this is it, you have got to click the tab exactly then the option shall cmome up. im not sure try that. Mabye some of the settings dont allow the use of scattering.

With smudging it works differently than regular brushing. First you're gonna want to go to the "brush tip shape" option at the top. At the very bottom it'll have a "spacing" option. There you can set the gap between brushes (sort of like the regular spacing jitter, but a different effect).

After that move down to other dynamics, and drag the "strength jitter" slider all the way to the right. Try it on different settings as well. I usually use "off", but "fade" gives a nice effect sometimes too.

Probably screwed in that regard if you use 7.0. No worries, I'm in the same situation. rofl

the scattering part should work in 7 unless the brush your using is not compatible with it and have you tried resetting ps settings?

THats prlly along the line. Try resetting the brushes only. Some brushes might be to small or something. This sizes of the brushes i use to smudge are around 48pxl so try around there.

But even without scattering I belive u can still get that effect
