Hmm, getting a new laptop and want to know which ones are worth the buy?

And can decent graphics cards be fitted in them?

    Cheers :D

Some info on what you are looking to spend and maybe a few minimum specs could help ;)

Dell makes a great laptop. The only thing is most laptops, the graphic cards are "built in" meaning onto the mother board. I know the Dell XPS notebook and go up to a NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX. Which is a Great, Great card. But then start out at $999.00 U.S.

That seems about alright as that's only around £550.

Got any links to it or can it be found easily on the Dell site.

Also, would it be easy to upgrade it to a better graphics card?

I just thought this site would be the best to ask on as people seem to know alot about computers. :)

Shipping from the US to the UK could add alot to the price of the laptop.

And make sure when you order it, you get the hardware you want, because most (not all) laptops now, you cant upgrade the graphics card or procesors. You get what you buy and your stuck with it. Some PC makers such as Alienware and others (overpriced) do have some models that have exchangeable graphics cards and such, but it is not common for them and for the price you are looking for.

Is there a reason you want a laptop compared to a desktop? A desktop can be alot cheaper and give you alot better performance for games and applications.

If you want to game and everything, desktops are much easier to upgrade. And they are a lot cheaper and for the price you'd pay for good laptop, you could get an insanely good desktop (depending where you buy from). I don't know the conversion rates so I dunno how much in US dollars you can/want to spend.

A lot of people would suggest building your own, buying parts from http://newegg.com

Are parts from New Egg easily shippable with it being an American site?
