I want tog et people's opinion. I am thinking of installing a new board. It's between SMF and phpbb. Well here are some things that phpbb has: -more mods -more skins -it's more used than smf http://phpbb.com (it's like 20mb to install it though) SMFsimple machine forum) I don't know much about it but i heard it's like vbulletin and it's more secure than other boards. but from what i've seen there not alot of mods and skins for it. http://simplemachines.org Can i get your opinion? experience? I just want people's opinion on this.
phpBB i guess. I dont recomend either actually. phpBB has the lowest security which isnt good. I have to suggest IPB
Lets face the facts SMF - free - more secure than ipb and phobb ever will - skins maybe inferior to phpbb's but that's only because smf is relatively new compared to phpbb but smf's skin archive is growing rapidly. - great support community - built in karma/rep mod - admin cp is better and allows you to do more - package manager allows easy mod installs and updates - most of the stuff you'd need mods for with phpbb come pre-installed with smf - once your banned your banned you won't be getting around this babies ban by just using a simple proxy since it will automattically update the ip's of your login attempts. - faster than ipb and phpbb - if you need a particular mod created that isn't available someone on the support forums would probably create it for you phpbb - free - insecure - need to install a mod for practically everything - admin cp is inferior to smf's - better skins - greater mod selection Smf is better than the paid ipb and phpbb
Thanks for the comments, I am still 50 - 50. I'll install them both and see how they work. Security or better looking borad. well i want something free and also legal
